Rep. Phil Gingrey complained Wednesday that he is "stuck" in Congress — earning $172,000 — while his aides can become lobbyists and earn at least a half-million dollars a year, according to the National Review.

"[They] may be 33 years old now and not making a lot of money," the Georgia Republican said during a GOP conference, according to the National Review. "But in few years they can just go to K Street and make $500,000 a year. Meanwhile I'm stuck here making $172,000 a year."

That obviously doesn't take into account the lobbyist cash bonuses.

Wow!!!,,,that is a ripoff,,,172,000,,,I make more than that

Consulting,,,they pay me big bucks for what I know,,,and

most of the time,,,I am charging them while I play on forums,,,

I had no idea this is all they make,,,no wonder they all turn

to crime,,,insider trading,,,and marry rich women,,,I would too,,,

I am surprised he can get by on only that,,,in that position,,,

we should really pay them alot more than that,,,no wonders

there is junk in those positions,,,Plumbers in

New York City make more than that,,,that is just crazy...

A 2008 Time magazine article states that a plumber's salary varies depending on the region they work in, and if they are employed by others or own their own business. Journeymen plumbers in big cities like Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, or New York are in demand and earn a median salary of up to $250,000 a year.

Look at that!!!,,,I thought these Congress guys got over a million dollars,,,

at least,,,gee whiz,,,you can make 172,000 easy,,,with inflation that is

like almost nothing,,,unbelievable!!!,,,how can he make a house payment

in DC???,,,they deserve free healthcare,,,and sexy interns,,,that is like

gone in six months in DC...

How stupid can this guy be???,,,he should be a lobbyist,,,

what is he thinking???,,,he could shovel a lot less crap being

a plumber in NYC,,,and what???,,,he has to run to get elected???,,,

vote for me,,,vote for me,,,and then out of a job in four years???,,,

that just shows how stupid these guys are,,,and we are,,,how can

you get anyone with a brain to work for these slave wages,,,no

wonder they can't make good decisions,,,he is probably underfed,,,

and worrying about how he is going to make his next house payment,,,

I had no idea they were so underpaid...

That's why they need to substantially cut the pay of anyone at the top before the economy will ever improve.

No matter how much a guy makes, all he does is look at the guy making even more. Sometimes rich people are even bigger crybabies than the pooor.

A 95% top marginal tax rate will cut the lot of those clowns down to size and it would significantly lower the public debt.

Maybe he should push some legislation to ban lobbyists.

But, I don't think that was his point.

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to poor
