German and international researchers have succeeded in converting water, carbon dioxide and sunlight into kerosene, in a project that holds the possibility of producing completely renewable jet fuel.

"The basic idea is to reverse the combustion process. What we do is take carbon dioxide and water vapour, and introduce energy to produce fuel," said Patrick Le Clercq, responsible for the project at the German Aerospace Centre's (DLR) Institute of Combustion Technology in Stuttgart.

Great news! yay.gif Once this is commercially viable, it should be translate to drastic savings at the pump as there is no peak oil, or long distance transport of oil, involved in the equation.
I do fear, it will take a miracle to get it to the market, this is a game changer, and the establishment wants to preserve profits as is.

I guess it depends on how much energy it takes to make it. Shell is already converting it into kerosene as the last stage of the process.

yup.gif The implications are staggering. That could put a stop to fracking and drilling in sensitive areas.
No more BP Halliburton in the Gulf is a win win.

That's what plants have been doing for a long time. This could be a carbon-neutral process, if sunlight is the energy source.

basically sounds like HHO, all this stuff is basic science, not even rocket science and they act like they need to use oil and dig for it all the time, dolts!
