For example, a certain video I'm working on could use some scenes similar to that of that from either Ender's Game, Star Ship Troopers, etc while another I believe could use some scenes from one of the movies based off of one of H.P. Lovecraft novels such as Dagon or perhaps the Thing.

I guess what I'm trying to ask for is if there are any other sci-fi, anime, video game, and/or horror buff out there that might have some ideas and may be able to give me some helpful hints on where to go and/or what to check out.

Thanks. coffeetime.gif

Event horizon is one. There were other starship troopers movies (not so good but similar framework/visuals). There's also that one where they were in cryoin a spaceship and had a bad mutation and went all cannibal on everyone I forget what it's called. (checked: pandorum). Snowpiercer maybe has something you can use.

I know what you are saying, but as another member said I'm not really using them as my own material but merely like the anime music videos you see on YouTube.

Check out this AMV on Youtube that uses the 80s song Safety Dance and Nichijou anime clips:

Safety Dance AMV - Best Upbeat 2011

If it was illegal to use ANY sort of clips, art, writing, parody, etc. from other sources, over half of the Internet and YouTube wouldn't exist.

Also I didn't specifically ask for ways to get the videos (I can do most of that myself), but more about WHICH movies would be good to check out; which is more or less just asking people what would be good movies to check out. Whether or not I use the material in them for my own use is another matter. Just saying. wave.gif

If he's just editing them and not publishing them like his own material there's nothing really bad about it... and then there's that "fair use" thing too when using copyrighted material in some contexts.

I think it'd be safest just to rip stuff from dvd:s one owns or youtube and the like if one is concerned about the law.
Yeah, I don't think I will be able to get to many people to see them and if I do manage to do that I will just not try to make any profit from the videos themselves, although I don't know if web traffic/web site contributions count (that is "if" I can get either of the two) as "profit".

Since people can make AMVs without getting into too much trouble, I think making my own kind of AMV won't be too big of a deal. At least I hope.

At any rate I have $0.00 income, near $0.00 net worth, and horrible credit rating. The only thing they could get out of me is my blood and I don't think that is going to happen.

I'll check it, but I'm unsure if those if those specific movies are exactly on theme with the clips I'm trying to do. I will however say that your mindset of the TYPES of clips your talking about is on the mark for what I'm looking for: action, horror, stuff with wtf moments and these can be found in both good movies and some of the B-movies movies that people sometimes don't care about.

To me it is the intense 2-5 second moments, such as the massive battleship/star fight dog fights clips in Star Wars, that are the important parts. The dialog, drama, narrative is merely filler for the exciting parts. I believe if I splice a lot of the intense parts together I can create something..interesting and perhaps even something worth the time and effort for me to do so. drool.gif
