The problem with aquifers is they can have sand stringers - even in dense and nearly impervious clay soils - that can send petroleum miles away from the source.
I've seen it occur on LUST sites on occasions to numerous to get into.
My point being, most think of a spill as confined to the area that it occurred, while nothing could be further from the truth.
The exec gets to drink the water, but so do families, dairy cows, birds...the food chain. Extreme care and planning are necessary as opposed to what went on with BP and Haliburton rubbing legs in the Gulf.
