I've heard of these phantom planes in the area before, I'd tend to think they are just planes, but these have propellers and can't be run silently as far as I know.

Probably looks solid because it most likely is. According to video comments it's a Lockheed C130 Hercules.

Quote:those must be Rolls Royce AE 2100 engines which might explain why is so silent!
Quote:my thoughts exactly, derby is home to Rolls Royce so engine testing is very likely. This could very well just simply be something they are working on.
Quote:"The RAF is assuring people not to worry about a 'ghost plane' spotted over Derbyshire. Air force chiefs have revealed that three military aircraft were in the area at the time of the sightings on Monday evening."
Quote:That's an RAF C-130 Hercules plane training pilots to deal with unpowered landings at the abandoned Ashford airforce base. You can clearly see the props aren't spinning.
Quote:It' a C-130 Hurcules for Christ sake, there flying nap of the earth at about a few hundred feet usually, there all over the country especially since our troops have come back from Afghanistan and Iraq, 15 -20 years ago they where everywhere but when the wars started they where all posted out of country, but now there back and practicing.
Etc.
Sorry.
Not.
