And I noticed the lyrics on the first self entitled song say

"Something happened on the day he died
Spirit rose a metre and stepped aside
Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried
(I’m a blackstar, I’m a blackstar).

I just found out he died after battling cancer for 18 months. I wonder if he wrote these lyrics while he was sick and was the self-proclaimed blackstar? I didn't even know he was sick!

I have fond memories of smoking dope in my parents basement while being introduced to what would eventually become known as electronic music. A song called 'Sense of doubt'.

Peace out wherever you are David.

i didnt know he was sick either!

yeah i read about the lyrics,

'David Bowie used the haunting lyrics of his swansong album to say goodbye to his fans following a secret 18-month battle with cancer.

The singer, who died yesterday, penned seven tracks for his latest album Blackstar which were full of cryptic lyrics that hinted at the terminal nature of his condition.

Perhaps the most moving track on the record is Lazarus, which became posthumously poignant today as he told fans: 'Look up here, I'm in heaven.'

I can't believe his family would allow such a horrific picture publicly. It almost makes me sick. have some dignity please.

And thanks Coolchick, can you imagine feeling sick from chemo and still belting out tunes for your next album?

This brings a tear to eyes.

David Bowie was way up there on my 'Heroes' list.

well i am pretty sure he wanted it released.. it says in the link that it is from the video..

'Just three days before he died, the avant-garde artist had released the video for the song, which showed the singer trapped in a hospital bed, his frail body shaking beneath the covers and his eyes covered in bandages. '

so it had to have been his own idea, for that..

strong spirit, to do a cd while in that condition, i agree..

Just Plain Nuts.

here are some quotes i found

http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-ne...fe-7155501

'I think Mick Jagger would be astounded and amazed if he realized that to many people he is not a sex symbol, but a mother image.'

'I'm looking for backing for an unauthorized auto-biography that I am writing. Hopefully, this will sell in such huge numbers that I will be able to sue myself for an extraordinary amount of money and finance the film version in which I will play everybody.'

lol

He kept his illness a secret, which is why this is such a shock. This a seriously crappy mercury retrograde, and it's barely half over.
