Or do the Kaljakellunta (Beer floating)

İmage

Quote:Kaljakellunta, also known as “Beer Floating”, is an annual open festival originating from the Uusimaa province of Finland, where the capital city Helsinki is also located. Kaljakellunta is an event where thousands of participants float down the Kerava/Vantaa -river in various kinds of inflatable dinghies and self-built rafts, whilst getting drunk on beer.

It's spelled right chuckle.gif

Quote:“Kalja“ stands for beer and “Kellunta” for floating in Finnish. The word “Kellunta” actually stands for more than just floating, as this conjugation of the verb “Kellua” refers to an occurrence of someone floating somewhere

It's on August 5. I'd like to go. Maybe we can meet up there. Make a kritter raft and float together.

Yeah well... We're NOT swimming in the river, I don't know of anyone that does except for in the winter. Then there's a hole cut out in the ice so you can go winter bathing. Because Finland...

This is my 11th summer here and there was only one year where it got warm enough to swim. damned.gif
I'm going out on a limb here but I'm expecting a late fall...

The lakes warm up pretty nicely during normal summers, at around 25C even I go swimming. But then the sauna has to be hot and ready 13.gif

This is not a normal summer however, it's way colder. I doubt the lakes will warm up to acceptable temps...

this time of year here most asked question is:
"is the lake water warm enough yet"

Kids will of course go swimming regardless of temps. If it's summer you swim dammit. The lowest temps I swam in was 8C chuckle.gif
