Thanks Jb. She is actually recuperating from falling off my son's balcony - NINE FLOORS. The vet said her femur completely dislocated from the hip socket and she is an extremely lucky cat. The vet simply put the leg back in the socket. He wanted to operate for $800, but my son can not afford that cost. So, here she is and we're trying to keep her isolated, but she's still a kitten and wants to run and play.

I've been keeping an eye on how she puts weight on the leg and it seems to be somewhat stable, or getting better, but I'll tell my son to take her for a check up soon.

that poor baby..I know you will take very good care of her. I had a cat who was attacked by a dog and she had to have a leg amputated..she did very well..she lived to be almost 18 . what made me so damn mad was my cat was attacked by this dog right in the vet's office gaah.gif the vet gave us free care for the rest of her life ...I was so upset I cried for days

Wow, that's horrible. I always kept my cats in a cat carrier when at the vets and when dogs would come too close sniffing around my cat, because the owners let them gaah.gif I would have to ask them to please keep the dog away from the cage and they would give me that 'you dog hater' look. sad2.gif

Yeah, I think we've already bonded - to only have her taken away from me in the not too distant future 13.gif

I took her in to be spayed that day..and she was back up in her cage recovering..one of the employees left the door open and had been walking a pit bull ..she did not secure him in his cage and close the door..he got into the cat room and my kitty was still asleep but had one of her front paws hanging thru the cage..pit bull grabbed it with such force..he ripped part of her leg off..vet couldn't save the rest..had to amputate all the way to the shoulder..the vet did fire that tech who was careless with the doors and made a new policy of not treating pit bulls any longer I brought her home a week later..and she managed well..she could get in an out of litter box..but her personality did change..she was never as loving as before

Wish I could have a İmage or a İmage.
But the lovely Stonette is just too allergic.
Her daughter, too.
They both love kittehs & puppehs, but can't
have them in the house.

:(

Holy crap, a cat surviving a nine story drop... that's a floor for each life! That's one daredevil stunt she isn't likely to pull again though.
She a real cutie!

I'm glad it turned out well for your kitty and you. Just researching a little here, and found a good article on prosthetics for animals. Meet Oscar...

I am actually allergic to animal dander too and have been having some difficulty breathing since she arrived, but I've had cats and a few dogs most of my life and somehow managed the allergy.

I was surprised too Octo and I think the vet was too. I want my son to take her in for an x-ray of the socket/leg to see what's going on with the healing process. If she requires surgery, I may have to foot the bill. gaah.gif

Some breeds are better tolerated by sensitive people. Mason is one of those it seems and he's been to Stonette's house without any problems...I think?

Or you could get one of these hairless ones:
