I just read the article linked below and it got me thinking. No, I wasn't thinking about if it was a meteorite or a UFO or space junk. That wasn't the point. I was thinking how much we do or don't know about all that shït up there. Just how much shït have we put into space ? And now all that shït is endangering our lives without us even knowing so! At any time on any day there could be a few hundred kilos (or more) of space junk heading right to that nice quite spot we are heading for in the park on a beautiful summers day, or crashing through the roof of our houses while we sleep. Would we get any warning? No, nothing!

You know, oddly, I had a series of reoccurring dreams of fireballs last summer. So many, I finally came to the conclusion I needed to find a crowbar and ride it out in a storm sewer manhole.
Yeah, it's a lol thing, but I came to be aware of just how dangerous that is in a hypothetical dream sense, and sadly, the reality would be much the same.
Obviously, something needs to be done, and the sooner the better.
There have been advanced in tractor beam tech, but according to sources it's years away from practical use.
I have no solutions, if this was the 50's they'd bust it all up with nukes because they could, thankfully they seem a bit more conservative these days.

From OP's link:

Quote:Space needs policies and laws to protect the public interest, UN Office
on Outer Space Affairs Director Mazlan Othman said in an interview. We
should have all the instruments to make sure that lifestyles are not
disrupted because of misconduct in space when people switch the
television to watch the World Cup next month in Johannesburg.

No we certainly don't want to miss any tv coffeetime.gif

They should be held accountable for all damage, injuries and deaths caused by this junk.

But then in this real world responsibility runs very low on the agenda.
