A friend over a ION has been working for the past few months on a new phone app. It launched today on iTunes and an Android version is coming soon.

Quote from a private thread at ION: (re-pub'd by request)

Just got approved by Apple an hour ago, and should be in the ITunes store tomorrow. I'm at work, will post a link tomorrow. Here it is. Spredit far and wide.

I have been reading so many stories about police brutality, or public officials taking cellphones and deleting videos (evidence). With an Iphone you punch the camera button, decide photo or video. Start and stop. Then you have to choose the vid or picture choice. Then you have to decide how you want to send it. Then you have to type the address, then press send. About 7 or 8 steps.

With Spredit Now, you preprogram the destinations (up to 5 now, more in next update). You press start button (defaults to vid, you can change it to photo) you press stop, and you press send. It automatically is sent to your preset locations. After you press send, it can't be stopped, or can't be deleted. With an Iphone, you can go into the photo cache, and delete it. With Spredit now, it puts a decoy copy into the photo cache. As long as you press send, you can't jam the signal, destroy the phone, of do anything to stop it.

I recently was at the lake and took a lot of pictures. Yes drinking. I slipped of the dock, and got my phone wet. Lost all of my pictures. Had I taken it with Spredit Now, my pictures would be safely sent to my email, twitter, or facebook account.

I don't have a smart phone so I'm not sending anything anywhere, but most people these days do and probably find this very useful.

You gonna use it DaJ? If so you have to write a review.

I dunno even how to use the camera thingy on the phone. I seldom use the phone ~ I got a phone that rides the short bus. It has a keyboard so I can answer a text, and it does have a totally useless internet thing on it. So I'm not even sure if I could install the app? (How do I find out?)

The ol lady has an Einstein phone (which is WHY I had to break down and get a phone easier to text on...long story there...) and will prolly snag that app.

The app sounds like it really simplifies the process of saving/distributing vids & pics. In these days of LEOs smashing cell phones, it could be very handy.

i took a look at the pics on itunes.
why isn't it possible to add more than 5 destinations? blink.gif
and why does he use 5 text fields for that task? lol.gif
wouldn't it be better to use one text field and a plus button (with a toast that pops up and says that the email address or whatever has been successfully added)?

something that looks like this:

_____textfield______ [+]

and what about the lazy users who don't want to type all those email addresses they already have in their contacts into spredit?

The developer has cooked this up in just a couple of months (or less). I'm sure he'd appreciate feedback. You can find him at ION ~ this is posted in the 'members only' Lounge area. (Why I didn't simply link to there.)

As I understand ~ you only have to do that once at setup.

I'm the guy who came up with this app. The reason I came up with this is to help fight police corruption. When you use an IPhone or IPad, it takes 6 or 7 steps to post a video or picture. With Spredit Now, you preprogram up to 5 destinations for your vid or pic. You press start, stop, and send. It's gone. It can't be stopped, jammed, or deleted. It puts a decoy file in your photo cache, so if you're detained, and they try to delete it, they are deleting a copy. I wanted to get this out there fast. In the next few weeks, an update will address your questions. Multiple groups to choose from among other additions.
