The internet has been plagued with fake trailers for this new Star Wars film but the one i posted above is the real deal just released a couple of days ago and its been just about a decade since the last Star Wars movie was made and released and our modern day technologically brilliant computer graphic imaging is totally awesome and very realistic for this new The Force Awakens (*=*)

Hm...haven't followed the Star Wars saga for a couple of films.

The first one was one of my all time best movie experiences, though,
back in the 70's. Saw it 3 nights in a row at the Kino City chuckle.gif
die-hard sci-fi fan as I was.

Heres where and how it all began A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far Far Away the opening credits and scenes from the original Star Wars - 1977 which I also saw in a theater when first released and I clearly remember people jumping up and yelling when these fantastic sights and sounds of outer space and planets and moons and battling spaceships flew into view as if from in back of us overhead and realize how then nothing like this was ever seen and heard before and thats why its still the most popular and highest grossing film ever made along with Gone With The Wind - 1939...

Looks good. Love the title = full of ambiguity. What awakens? the light or the dark side or both? Who awakens it? Best Star Wars title since the original trilogy. Not sure about the new light sabre with the cross hilt. Loved the double ended light sabre in The Phantom Menace but this one looks a little silly. Surely a laser cross hilt is just as dangerous to the person wielding the light sabre as the person being attacked. It is a device to protect the hand but surely not when it is a laser beam. Still Star Wars has a history of hands getting chopped off. I much prefer the old school light sabre. Also loved the fact that none of the old characters appeared in the trailer. Can't wait to see a wise old Luke Skywalker in the mould of Old Ben Kenobi. It shows three of the new stars. I think what we see in the first scene is a storm trooper who is probably good which suggests that we might see an x-wing fighter become bad. You should check out where they have been filming it. Mostly in the U.K and an amazing island called Skellig Michael.

Skellig Michael (Irish: Sceilig Mhichíl), or Great Skellig (Irish: Sceilig Mhór), is an island (the larger of the two Skellig Islands) in the Atlantic Ocean, 11.6 km west of the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland.[2] A Christian monastery was founded on the island at some point between the 6th and 8th century, and was continuously occupied until its abandonment in the late 12th century. The remains of the monastery, along with most of the island itself, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.[2]

They have been filming in the Forest of Dean.

Yeah like I'm totally glad that they didnt just call this movie Star Wars - 7 or whatever number it is chronologically like for one instance of many others what they do with the Saw franchise films like Saw - 3 and Saw - 4 and Saw - 5 and Saw - 6 ect ect like how pathetic and boring and dull and oh by the way a very well written post misterbumps and I suppose the light sabre sword cross hilt will help save their hands from getting hacked off as the laser beam slides down the other swords laser like many real swords also have and do and they cant please everyone if they used the same light sabres some people would have complained about that I suppose and maybe all the light sabres in this film are not going to be the same way but anyways the way the camera races along behind the spaceships in the trailer the millennium falcon? following them into battle looks and sounds really awesome (*-*)

Thanks for the compliment. Yes, you are right. The lasers slide against each other and do not pass through. I'd forgotten that. OK I might have to review my thinking on this new design. I loved the Millennium Falcon scene too.

On may twenty fifth nineteen seventy seven "A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far Far Away" appeared upon the big screen and suddenly cinema was forever altered and vastly improved and never the same again i mean like what a profound statement revealing the mind bending fact that all these elaborately designed Star Wars characters and spaceships and monsters and robots and planets and moons and death stars ect ect created from the ingenious mind of George Lucas were all alive and interacting with each other and waging wars upon each other somewhere very far away within another galaxy perhaps Andromeda while we were more or less still living in caves here on Earth and i do seem to remember reading several years ago about how the final Star Wars movie will be when they actually discover modern day Earth like friggin wow!!!

The light sabre has two new smaller lasers emitting in the N/S position, although it now renders the light sabre visually more as a sword, I wonder if the two smaller lasers have a use.

A cross hilt (guard) is used to protect a wielders hand like a Claymore of old. Personally I love swords.

It would appear that this light saber with laser hand guards may be an earlier version...so much speculation.
