Actually...they aren't always that conspicuous with the witchcraft...it's a whole system this stuff and cleaning it up. Just energy harvesting through misery.
Theoretically everything you buy that's not consumable should last forever here. Nature of the environment. Degradation is just a process and typically it isn't a natural one. Also there's a "time" element that can make that degradation impossible.
Everyone's like reanimated corpses at this point (myself included).
