Quote:Meteors from May 24th's early-morning display can appear anywhere in the sky, but their flight paths will trace back to a point (called the radiant) in the constellation Camelopardalis, the Giraffe, in the northern sky near Polaris. The stars are plotted for 2 a.m. local daylight time as seen from mid-northern latitudes. - See more at: http://www.skyandtelescope.com/astronomy...xhG3C.dpuf

If I am reading this info correctly then we (in mid N. America) should see the meteor shower this evening.

Here's a virtual telescope site.

It's very difficult to spot anything in the sky for us right now, so much daylight,

Sunrise today at 3:54. Sunset today at 23:01. Length of day is 19 h 7 min.

Thanks for the virtual telescope link cheers.gif I hope you get to see some shooting stars

I stayed up and on my backporch until 5:30 this morning. I saw three meteors.

Epic Fail for all the Hype they put on about this.

I was watching NLO impacts over Europe and around 11;30 last night they were getting about 5 meteors per minute being picked up by VHF radar. Too small to be visible. I think the Boffin that came up with this miscalculated the leading edge of the Earth by several hours.

The amazing part of the whole thing was I realized this.

We can detect grains of sand entering our atmosphere with radar, but we lost a Boeing 777

For sure Gumby, the meteor shower sure was a disappointment and, I was wondering the same thing about the missing plane.
