Too bad you're in another country Rog because the previous owner at our new home left a riding lawn mover and my sis wants goats and chickens.

We've bought numerous goats and chickens for families in Africa. A goat is €30 and 6 chickens for €24

That was very generous of you Octo & JR, but do you know what became of the animals there?

Not really. It's organized through the church in Finland and I trust them although I'm not a member. I like giving it as Christmas gifts to family member. You can buy these things on behalf of someone and just email them the certificate.

I was just wondering if they used the animals for a continuous food (milk and eggs) supply or simply ate them when they got them and ended up being hungry again.

I'd gladly send them some wives and kids to eat ,
but that last deal where they tried to trade me some dead dirt for a Tractor
pissed me off .

I've had similar fears with that type of gift.

If that's a concern there are other options that don't involve animals. You can for instance support the women's education program that provides small loans to women who want to start a business among other things.

Or one of the charities that digs wells for them. Or Doctors Without Borders is another really good charity.

What politics from both sides wants to teach us is that things are never complex. If you have your little package and something doesn't fit into that package, You don't know what to make of it so you want to dismiss it or then you will have to do the work of reconsidering your assumptions. - Michael Malice
