Quote: The home of the woman, Maria Pestrikoff, sits on the cliff. While texting on Sept. 17, she walked close to the edge to discard a cigarette butt. She slipped on wet grass and fell, her friend Anthony Burke told the Kodiak Daily Mirror in a story Wednesday.

"She was in the rocks between the boulders and she was calling for help," Burke said. "She was screaming in agony."

damned.gif Bet she'll never make that mistake again. scream.gif Certainly it's awful, but it's important to be aware of your surroundings, in particular if you live near a cliff.

Ok, accidents happen, but texting while walking by a cliff is just begging for trouble. Hope she'll recover though.

Texting bugs the shït out of me.

When I was a kid we had write letters to talk with distant loved ones. Calling your neighbor might well have been long distance. You couldn't afford to call long distance and you had to yell into the phone when you did. Phone lines and systems improved and you could finally call anywhere in the county and it was clear. Then long distance became affordable and cell phones came along. Now long distance is free and nearly everyone except me has a cell phone. We can finally talk to anyone and it sounds like they are in the room with you!

Let's text...
