Sure looks like it...obviously they brought a blacksmith with them. chuckle.gif

I'm not too sure about consuming the ashes on my food, but I did read somewhere that some people think anything burnt has carcinogens in it, others disagree. What I can find about though is that most people use the ashes as fertilizer in their gardens.

If you beat the bread well there will be no ashes left. puffpuffpass.gif

I'm just wondering if it smokes within the ashes, therefore the carcinogens may cook into the bread.

Not sure about that. I do know that the Bedouin tribe people have been baking bread like that for centuries.

If you notice in the video below, this woman has the fire lapping up above the dough and no ashes are used from the oven. I would probably bake bread on an open fire this way by creating an opening within a few logs and placing the dough in such as way that the heat will be coming from all sides, instead of covering it with ashes (which is the easier way to go, if there is no worry about carcinogens baking into the food).

Was wondering the same, he has not visited my place either, checked his post history.

He has taken time off before, but thought he'd mention something.

I turned myself to consider wisdom and madness and folly
The wise man’s eyes are in his head,
But the fool walks in darkness.
Yet I myself perceived
That the same event happens to them all.

chuckle.gif That's not entirely out of the question actually. 13.gif

It could be his sat link or anything. I'm sure he's ok and lets us know as soon as he can.

Well I am still here. Difficult to get online sometimes. If it is raining hard then it messes with my reception from the satellite tissueguy.gif

Today we have a little bit of sunshine. But gale force winds are moving in with torrential rain predicted.

At least I have finished building the wooden shack and it is waterproof. I can make it really warm in here when I get a good fire going.

The night times are cold now with temperature down to 1 or 2 degrees above freezing.

Hope everyone is well?

I will check in as and when I can. No signal on the phone to use the 3G so that has been left to the side.

Have a great weekend everyone.
