and this:

The other concern for crime in the city lies in the downtown area of Hermosa Beach. Fewer arrests have been made in the past year due to hesitation among officers who have backed off due to pending lawsuits dealing with their aggressive behavior. Number of complaints against officers declined in 2005.

another law suit that almost bankrupt hermosa beach City

Fishman also highlighted the recent settlement in the Macpherson Oil lawsuit. The Santa Monica-based oil company had sued the city for $750 million, alleging the council illegally backed out of a drilling deal. Macpherson's stake in Hermosa has been bought by E&B Natural Resources, and voters will decide next year whether to remove the city's drilling ban. The settlement has been touted by city leaders, but the renewed possibility of oil drilling off the city's coast has ignited a new round of protest among residents living near the proposed drilling site.

Too bad those ğkking morons are above the law at the point where they get their shiny little badge and a gun.
Mind you, not all of them are crooked, but the ones that are give the rest a really bad name. sad2.gif
