As far as I can tell from the article the slash in the tent was made by them to GET OUT of it. You just don't venture outside barefoot in -24C unless it's a matter of life and death.Death in this case.

I remember watching a documentary about this intriguing and frightening incident a few years ago here on american television and from what i can recall after learning about it i think these people were assaulted by aliens and strangely similar to some of the horrific incidents that happened during the awesome predator movie from the nineteen eighties and its also like weird cattle mutilations, because we only have a few possibilities as to who or what did this to these poeple, either other humans,or aliens,or abominable snowmen, because wolves or mountain lions or bears are most likely not responsible...

Maybe "something" evil that knew where they were ascended from beneath the ground (hell?!) and into their tent?!

It is a really eerie incident. Have you seen the new film based on the true events? It's not quite the same story, but looks pretty interesting.

Yes that movie was mentioned in the article as well. Renny Harlin is a fellow Finn and I'll check that movie out for sure.

Do you know if authopsies were carried out on the remaining parts of the bodies?

mmmmmm do not know how efficient they were in 1959, but surely if it happens today they will definately find a clue from authopsy ..... they had 9 bodies, quite too many and help find the common factors.

Or else what happened was kept secret.

One would assume they did. wonder.gif Octo's working on finding that out as we speak.

Strange, in that, they all had hand to hand combat-type injuries, or blows to the head area.

Wikipedia says this:

An examination of the four bodies which were found in May changed the picture. Three of them had fatal injuries: the body of Thibeaux-Brignolles had major skull damage, and both Dubinina and Zolotarev had major chest fractures. According to Dr. Boris Vozrozhdenny, the force required to cause such damage would have been extremely high. He compared it to the force of a car crash. Notably, the bodies had no external wounds, as if they were crippled by a high level of pressure.
