Here's an article that explains it as attacks from a bear family.

Quote:No mystery or aliens here. Sadly, A brown bear attack explain it all... I would say that the camper's had lots of food in the tent (instead of a hanging up in a tree nearby.) They were most likely attacked in their sleep by a hungry bear and her cubs. A terrifying experience. This explains why the the camper's cut the tent open (from the inside) to escape the attack, and trying to climb a tree half dressed. The other's were injured on rocks after falling into the ravine, then crushed by the weight of heavy snow. The poor lady bit her own tongue off. This true story would make a great film.

Yeah but the signs of bear attack would have been painfully obvious and long ago erased the numerous mysterious aspects of this bizarre and intriguing and frightening incident that still remain unexplained...

Bears would absolutely have left tracks.

As per this article's autopsy report, the injuries seem similar to me.

Quote:According to the autopsy report, the young man died from "multiple blunt impacts and sharp force injuries to the head, torso and extremities

Bears would absolutely have left tracks.
As well as the shredded clothing and ripped bodies that surely would have been dragged and strewn all over the area...

Was their tent torn from the inside out?

Like something materialized inside their tent and or rose up from beneath the ground and entered within their tent without warning while they were sleeping!

Like wtf?!

Hmmmm, back to the drawing board.

Cold war - Soviet testing weapons - radiation blast + avalanche, maybe?

Investigators obviously gone through all possibilities and explanations including the ones that we are speculating.

But since we're brainstorming with the incomplete evidence of the bodies and scene, I would surely eliminate a beastly attack. That leaves us with human or alien attack.
1. A wild animal would go for prey, probably meat and there would have been external evidence on the bodies. While aliens and humans are not interested in human flesh.
2. What for would a beast pull out 's tongue and eyes? A form of rage, hate or revenge humans done worse than this while it is said that aliens have carried experiments with humans and their body parts.
3. How could they have traveled a mile without the beast catching any of them? Humans can catch and beat each other but still can escape the struggle, But can they escape from aliens?
4. The tent was not destroyed, just cut with knife from the inside, would'nt a beast crush it in search for it's prey? In this sort of attack humans and aliens might not destroy the tent.
5. There were no footprints, except for humans'. Maybe aliens can leave no footprints, but there were human footprints.

So #3 excludes also aliens, and let's be realistic, we do not know that there have ever been proven records of alien attacks.

I would focus on human foul play, but who? If it was an outsider one or more, what would be the reason? Would'nt they take rob what's inside the tent? Would they turn back when they discover that there are 9 people unless the attackers are a numerous gang?

Could there have been a fight among the victoms, they fought with knives and torn the tent? Were they heavily drunking or experimenting drugs? Could there have been a crime of passion? Could they have fought over sexual advances on Lyudmilla Dubinina and Zina Kolmogorovas, and Lyudmilla's parts, were they cut off out of rage or revenge?

Am sure investigators would go through these scenarious, but whatever the case would probably remain a mystery and unsolved.

Also add to the fact that high doses of radioactive contamination on the clothes of a few victims. If the area was contaminated by military experiments, wouldn't all their clothes have shown equal amounts of radiation?

Interesting too:

12-year-old Yury Kuntsevich, who would later become head of the Yekaterinburg-based Dyatlov Foundation (see below), attended five of the hikers' funerals and recalls their skin had a "deep brown tan".

The tongue is the prime evidence, and to add to my speculation why were some of the bodies found naked, some with clothes? Does'nt it sound like they were playing about when things got rough and a fight could have started?

We'll see what the new film relating the story comes up with, then we'll be able to discuss at least the movie.

That video mentioned a note left that said "snowmen were real"?

After reading through this and the autopsies I have to say most injuries look to be from falling and all of the missing eyes and tongue are from corpses that had been out there a long time before being found and likely the result of some kind of animal scavenging. Burned clothes seems to be probably be the result of laying too close to a fire ...and lack of clothes can be attributed to fleeing out of the tent and clothes being taken from the dead.

What appears to have killed these kids is mostly fear.

Now I believe in yeti and the like and I think there is fairly solid evidence for their existence but these creatures are typically peaceful unless they have cause to be defensive. Maybe one did attack a couple of the kids causing the rest to flee and some to hide up a tree? ...but that doesn't explain the radiation? Some of the injuries could be consistent to being thrown(not just falling) or unusually strong blow to the chest? but if barefoot tracks were found where are the tracks of what ever they ran from?

Definitely something strange here.
