Quote:Plutonium has been detected in soil at five locations at the Fukushima number-one nuclear power plant, which was damaged by the March 11th earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The Kyodo News Agency quotes an official from the Tokyo Electric Power Company, who says the plutonium is believed to have been discharged from nuclear fuel at the plant.

Officials insist that the plutonium poses no threat to humans. But the power company says the discovery will not suspend work there.wtf2.gif Contamination in Unit-two is due to a partial meltdown of the reactor core.

However, authorities say pressure inside the containers holding the reactors are stable. They're also saying it could take weeks to clear out the radioactive water.
BS

If they actually said that, as a press statement.... I really don't know what to say to that.

plutonium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plutonium#Precautions
When exposed to moist air, it forms oxides and hydrides that expand the sample up to 70% in volume, which in turn flake off as a powder that can spontaneously ignite. It is also a radioactive poison that accumulates in bone marrow.

A commonly cited quote by Ralph Nader, states that a pound of plutonium dust spread into the atmosphere would be enough to kill 8 billion people. However, the math shows that only up to 2 million people can be killed by inhaling plutonium. This makes the toxicity of plutonium roughly equivalent with that of nerve gas. [93]

Quote:Chernobyl

Because plutonium oxide is very involatile, most of the plutonium in the reactor was not released during the fire. (See also Chernobyl disaster.) However that which was released can be measured. V.I. Yoschenko et al. reported that grass and forest fires can make the caesium, strontium and plutonium become mobile in the air again. (Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2006, 86, 143-163.) As an experiment fires were set and the levels of the radioactivity in the air downwind of these fires was measured.

GODDAMN!!!!

Now my stomach aches!!!

shït!

I'm tellin' ya's right now,,,
this shït is too disturbing.

I just got the idea to take myself up on Building one of my own Hot air Balloons.

I know where to trade my two boats for a house Boat.

I can steal an airbag ( takes less time then making one,,, and,, whoever i steal it from,,,
is gonna have to deal with bigger problems and ain't gonna bitch about some old airbag missing)

I'll tie that air bag,,, shït maybe 4 air bags,,, to that House Boat, fill the Galley with stolen
Hamburger Helper,,

and me and Beepers,,, we'll be Robinson Curuso and his boy ( Girl in her case ) Friday.

I'll stick some big LED laterns all over it, take off at night,,, and anyone that see's us
will misjudge the lights for a UFO,,,
they may even get us on their cell devise photo's.

heh heh

Yep,,, just gonna have to get busy plannin' it now.

let's see,,, does radiation like the North Pole ?

or

cruise under it,,, in my Stolen Black Submarine.

I can also Take the Nut's out of Beer-nuts
and have beer

i remember in the Movie Papillion

he used dried corn cobs in burlap bags tied together to make an e'scape

They think one of the reactors has melted through the floor of its containment vessel and onto the concrete floor beneath.

I saw this in a video earlier but I'm not sure where. I'll see if I can find it.

One thing I can tell you for certain is that the drinking water in Tokyo is contaminated. A friend of ours just got back from visiting family in Japan. She was just north of Mukushima when the quake hit. She left there and went to Tokyo for a few days to visit more family and to await the return flight to the US. She found out after a few days in Tokyo that she, and her 2yo son, had been drinking the contaminated water.

RADIATION levels in the sea off Japan's stricken nuclear plant hit their highest reading yet, officials said, amid a struggle to deal with large amounts of radioactive water at the site.
A spokesman for Tokyo Electric Power Co., operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant crippled by a March 11 earthquake and tsunami, said today levels of radioactive iodine-131 were 3,355 times the legal limit in the sea near the plant, according to a reading taken yesterday.
Officials said they did not know what cause the radiation level to rise.
"The figures are rising further. We need to find out as quickly as possible the causes and to stop them from rising any higher," said nuclear safety agency spokesman Hidehiko Nishiyama.
The sampling location is 330 metres south of the discharge outlet for four troubled reactors. Officials have said that tidal dispersion means that there is no immediate health threat, and that the iodine degrades relatively quickly.
