US this is (part of) why I watch the U.S. economy so closely. We're hard on their heels, they're our canary in the coal-mine. We have a horrific debt problem/housing bubble. How they've dealt with their problems is how we will as well.

It is so true Shadow. sad2.gif

That's because we are all controlled by the same people.

I am not your carpet ride I am the sky
I am not your blowing wind, I am the lightning
I am not your autumn moon, I am the night

To a certain extent, yes, but we are also to blame for wanting to live beyond our means. Unfortunately, our means haven't kept up with the cost of living, nor the greed of not only the 1%, but alot of people trying to get a piece of the pie. sad2.gif

One of my favorite rants US lol. My kid, fresh out of high school, gets an overdraft and a cell phone plan. Paid nothing on either. So the bank calls me (my number is listed as contact #) and tells me how this will ruin her credit score ooga booga. I said "there is nothing better that can happen to a young adult than they are useless to you banks". Guy was silent for a few seconds then just hung up. Meanwhile, I'd guess 90% of her friends are deeply in debt, drive $40k vehicles they can't afford to put more than $10 of gas in and their parents pay their credit card bills and cell phone plans.

So what's the price tag on one of these:

İmage

or these:

İmage

or why not these:

İmage

?

"Economy"?
"Our means"?

What would old Finland look like,
if her people wouldn't have had to
finance the endless wars of the King
and the Czar for 800 years..?

I'll never understand.
We could all live like kings and queens.
All of us.
(Not that I'd personally want to - I love
the simple life, me.)

İmage

Yes, for, what I consider, a very high interest rate. Anyway, we'll help him out this one time because he's a newbie at all this economic survival stuff.

People can be tricked into reversing their opinions on moral issues, even to the point of constructing good arguments to support the opposite of their original positions, researchers report today in PLoS ONE.

I am fairly bright. Fukushima isn't bad at all - they have it under control and are on their way to decommissioning the damaged portions of the facility. I don't understand the insults in the face of a factual view of the situation.

“Thyroid desease” of Fukushima children is turning to be thyroid cancer like in Chernobyl. http://fukushima-diary.com/2012/09/thyro...-children/
US West Coast to receive dangerous levels of Fukushima radiation
http://rt.com/usa/news/us-coast-levels-fukushima-412/

Radiation from the Fukushima Nuclear Plant disaster in Japan is now actively in the ecosystem all along the North American west coast… even the sea weed is now radiated. The Vancouver Sun reported one year ago that the seaweed tested from waters off the coast of British Columbia were 4 times the amount considered safe. No further test results were released after the initial report.

Additionally we have a thread titled the Fukishima Disaster with 1,100 posts and 40,451 views at present. It's a library of all that's transpired from day one. To say it's not bad is akin to saying Hitler was just misunderstood.

Not going to argue the point, what happened will be with this planet for our lifetime and well beyond, to the tune of 703.8 MILLION YEARS regarding uranium 235 by your own account. This ain't a piece of catshit that you can bury in the sand my friend, we all got a dose of WWIII without the destruction.

"In March, Fukushima government conducted thyroid test for under 18 in 13 cities and towns such as Minamisoma city, Namiemachi, Iidatemura, Tomiokamachi etc. By March 2012, about 38,000 children had the test. (cf. Thyroid nodules rate in Fukushima is 20 time higher than in Chernobyl)

On 9/11/2012, Fukushima local government announced they found unignorable thyroid nodules from 60 of children to need a follow-up test, and they found thyroid cancer from one of them."

Now Iodine 131 is a linear radiation poison so any is bad and more is worse. It can cause thyroid cancer if you aren't taking Iodide pills. So releasing it into the environment isn't a good idea. But lets get some perspective.

From your article there is one kid out of 38000 that has cancer. Japan had 144 childhood cases between '82 and '95 or about 11 per year, or 1:100,000. Overall instance for general Japanese population (2010) was 22.7:100,000. Females get cancer 2.1 times more than males.

Statistically one case is not enough to determine if the cancer rate is higher. There is a 33% chance that one of the children would have had cancer.

The Iodine 131 that could have caused thyroid cancer was mostly gone about a month after the Tsunami. About 0.11 kg of Iodine 131 were released. That is 4.24x10*23 atoms of Iodine. The release stopped roughly 601 days ago and the half-life is about 8 days. Statistically on the whole planet there are 10.3 atoms of Iodine 131 from Fukushima still around. In a month there will be none.

By the way I was eaten by the SPAM filter for this post.

Spam filter chewed me up and spit me out. BFE it said.
