Yes I have a bank account have had at the same bank for more than 20 years.

The money paid as welfare is paid fortnightly into the bank.

There are many emergency hostels in London but they are totaly full with migrant workers from Poland, Latvia, Bulgaria and Romania. It gets some what easier when I get the first payment of welfare as then I have proof of benefit. This then opens the door to many housing routes and makes it a lot easier.

Thank you Shadow. I am hanging in there, somewhat difficult at times but nearly at the end of this nightmare.

Hi Octo.
Thats the hardest thing to find here. The police have it in for people sans domicile.

I can get sandwiches free if I join the queues of hundreds of migrants whose idea of civilisation differes from mine. So difficult to say the least. I never knew it was like this in the UK. Its like being in a thirld world country when you are on the street.

I'm sure things have changed quite a bit since you left. Over here they actually started to demand you show your social security card (proving you're a Finnish citizen) for a free meal, and that immediately caused the majority of the people in line to leave. Crazy times.

Yep sure is a crazy world. I wont stay hungry forever though. When I finally pass the 2 weeks I will get some money in my account then I will finaly be able to put my feet up and rest with a good home cooked meal. Until then I fear I will just have to make a few extra holes in th belt and tighten it more.

I went through a week of eating oranges and grapefruit in Florida when I first moved there.
I was working, but waiting on my first check and living out of motels really sucks all your funds up quick.
I really don't eat either any more after that, but I know what you (and your stomach) were going through in Spain. Living off those is awful, way too much citric acid.

London UK does have help available. wave.gif

Day Centers

"Day centres often work with people who have the most difficult journey from the street to independent living, welcoming people who are not willing or able to engage with other services. They develop flexible, innovative ways of working, including outreach and specialist services, and work with a large proportion of service users with high support needs. Day centres also support socially excluded people to sustain their tenancies and break the cycle of repeat homelessness."
