Yeah!!!
It's so good to be catholic.
On a day so commercially exploited by business and males placed under the financial stress of buying expensive lunches and dinners for their genteel partners...
I am so grateful to be a devout catholic.
Tomorrow happens to be Ash Wednesday !!! Yay!!!
A day of fasting and abstenence and deprivation ...
Valentine costs me nothing!!!??❤️

The God you worship finally answered your prayers.
Cheap bastard.

I'm in my seventh decade on Earth. I know things.

Tomorrow is a sad day
Every year on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday I continue to uphold the soul cleansing practice of self flagellation
For one hour until the sun rise
Every believer should do it
Self flagellation beats wasting thousands of years in purgatory

Did you have to have ribs removed to pull that self flagellation off?

Valentines day is a completely commercial made up bs day and wasn't even acknowledged here until 1980. I'm not celebrating it and don't even need religion as a crutch.

Today is fat Tuesday! I had split pea soup as tradition dictates and was also outside enjoying the snow for a long time.
Quote:Laskiainen is a celebration with Finnish origins is associated with Shrove Tuesday and is often described as a "mid-winter sliding festival."

One of the places the festival is celebrated is the community of Palo, Minnesota (between Aurora and Makinen, on the shores of Loon Lake). Palo is the home of one of the longest continuously-held Finnish–American festivals in the United States.[1]

Many smaller groups and Finnish–American clubs have various laskiainen celebrations, but the large one which developed and became more organized in Palo in the 1930s[2] is notable for both size and longevity.

In North America, it is traditional to have a meal of split-pea soup with ham, and slide down either snow-covered or iced tracks, often on toboggans.

It of course predates Christianity and was celebrated to ensure a plentiful new year and good crops.
