HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The Latest on the Green Party's effort to force a statewide recount of the Nov. 8 presidential election in Pennsylvania: (all times local):

11:45 p.m.

The Green Party says it's switching strategy in its bid to force a statewide recount of Pennsylvania's Nov. 8 presidential election, won by Republican Donald Trump.

Hours after dropping a state court case, it said late Saturday night that it'll go to federal court instead. A statement from the lead lawyer for the recount campaign says it'll seek an emergency federal court order for the recount. It says barriers to a recount in Pennsylvania are pervasive and the state court system isn't equipped to address the problem.

My understanding of this is that she actually filed too late to even do it?? Dunno

No. She didn't file at all. After the deadline she had to file a lawsuit to get a court ordered recount but dropped the suit Saturday.

I heard an interesting theory on all of this. Jill Stein's entire plan was two parts. 1) Make $hillary and the Dems look worse than they already do to knock them down some more and 2) to raise money from the Clinton supporters so that next election the Green Party can buy their way onto the ballot. Johnson did well enough that the Libertarians will be on nearly all of them. Now the Green Party can too.

They are already saying that Trump will have to screw up pretty bad to not get a second term.

The Dems have certainly screwed the pooch.

Federal Judge Halts Recount, Sealing Trump's Michigan Win
A federal judge who ordered Michigan to begin its recount effectively ended it on Wednesday, tying his decision to a state court ruling that found Green Party candidate Jill Stein had no legal standing to request another look at ballots.

The ruling seals Republican Donald Trump's narrow victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton for Michigan's 16 electoral votes.

US judge rejects Green Party's Pennsylvania recount case
Associated Press December 12, 2016

A federal judge on Monday issued a stinging rejection of a Green Party-backed request to recount paper ballots in Pennsylvania's presidential election, won narrowly by Republican Donald Trump, and scan some counties' election systems for signs of hacking.

The state Elections Commission in Wisconsin planned to vote Monday on certifying the results of their presidential recount. With about 95 percent of the votes recounted as of Sunday, Clinton had gained 25 votes on Trump, but still trailed by about 22,000 votes out of nearly 3 million cast in Wisconsin.

A federal judge halted Michigan's recount last week after three days. Trump won Michigan by fewer than 11,000 votes out of nearly 4.8 million votes cast.

Update on Wisconsin:
Trump adds 131 votes in Wisconsin's recount

Wisconsin on Monday certified results of the recount requested and paid for by Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Earlier it said Trump had picked up 162 more votes.

"It's amazing that we were that close," Elections Commission Chair Mark Thomsen said.

Trump in the end defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton by 22,748 votes.

Judge says electors must vote for statewide winner
Associated Press 4 hours ago

:snip:

DENVER (AP) — A federal judge dealt a severe setback Monday to a longshot plan to deny Donald Trump the presidency through the Electoral College, refusing to suspend a Colorado law requiring the state's nine electors to vote for the presidential candidate who won the state in November.

U.S. District Judge Wiley Daniel denied a request by two Colorado electors who contended that the law binding their vote to Colorado vote winner Hillary Clinton violated their First Amendment rights and the intents of the Constitution's framers. The electors had sought the right to vote for someone other than Clinton in order to unite behind a consensus Republican other than Trump when the Electoral College convenes on Dec. 19.

Daniel found that suspending the Colorado requirement would have harmed the state's voters and jeopardized a peaceful presidential transition. "Part of me thinks this is really a political stunt to prevent Donald Trump from becoming president," said Daniel, who was nominated to the bench by Bill Clinton in 1995.

Secretary of State Wayne Williams said he will replace electors who shift their allegiances and suggested they may face criminal charges. As public officers, the electors could face a misdemeanor criminal charge for failing to meet their public duty, which carries the potential for a $1,000 fine and up to one year in jail.

Agreed, any one with any sense at all can see how frivolous this is. Obama said today that any outside involvement (Russia, China, Best Korea chuckle.gif) didn't change the outcome of the election.

Senate panel plans hearing on Russia hacking in January: spokeswoman

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee plans a closed briefing and a public hearing on the Russia hacking issue as soon as the Senate returns from its year-end recess in the first week of January, a spokeswoman said.

"The committee plans to systematically look at this issue and will begin with both a classified briefing and an open hearing in early January when the Senate returns," said Micah Johnson, a spokeswoman for the panel's Republican chairman, Senator Bob Corker.
