i havent either .. and thats half the reason lol..
yeah the nonsmoking city govt decided for us, that we dont need to smoke at bars (or anywhere else) ever again.

wasnt that nice of them?
i do love a good democratic forcing.

so many businesses lost everything.. charity bingo halls went bust.. ones that had been there for many many years..

etc etc..

lol for awhile they had 'smoke cops' come around and surprise us in the bars.
they would charge you 245 bucks if caught.

one bar was a basement establishment and it already had a camera out to their parkinglot.
so they just used that and a warning bell, when they saw cops coming.
LOL

Just Plain Nuts.

Yeah it was the death penalty for a lot of establishments here too. Do they really think people who smoke want to visit bars&restaurants if they have to go outside to smoke? It's -28C here right now ffs. They lost a lot of customers. sad2.gif

yeah i know
i was one of them out there lol

and then they said no, you cant smoke anywhere near the building..
so we had to go and have a smoke with no cover anywhere

they even told the patio bars, which tired to keep the smoking, that they couldnt have any of the umbrellas touching because it would constitute an enclosed area
and therefore nope cant smoke there either.

i mean i dont care about restaurants being non smoking,.. totally cool to me.
that makes sense.
but a bar?
lol most of the staff smoked. so it was pretty crappy for everyone.

after the smoke cops got threatened trying to bust ppl, they decided to bring in a real cop to come with them.
which is when i got busted.
lol the little chick cop threatened to take me in

Well they haven't been that awful about it here. You don't have to go a certain distance from the building to smoke (I think). There was a unprecedented case in court here some years back when this started going down and it turns out the defendant who wanted to keep smoking on his balcony was allowed to do so.

It's not an actively enforced offense here

You can smoke pretty much anywhere in South East Asia.

I have no problems with people smoking in bars, but get upset when someone lights a cigarette at the table next to me while I am having food in a restaurant, I like my food to taste like food, not like ashtray.

Thing is, if its a local, then I understand because they are born and raised in a third world country and don't know any better.

But its always the tourists who does this and they should know better, damn savages. raging_midget.gif
