Quote:"Andrew Nelson, the chief operating officer of XCOR Aerospace, a company that proposes to take paying customers on suborbital jaunts on its Lynx rocketplane, posted some good news/bad news concerning some proposed rule changes from the State Department on June 3, 2013. On the good news side, the Department of State has proposed changes that would move satellites from the Department of Defense's Munitions list, where they have been since 1999, to the Department of Commerce's commerce control list."

"This is a great step for the industry. Since the time commercial satellites were placed on the munitions list in 1999, the commercial satellite industry was almost wiped out."

"On the bad news side, the State Department proposes to place commercial manned spacecraft on the DOD munitions list, making it very difficult if not impossible to fly them outside the United States. 'This is the same backward path provided to the US satellite manufacturing and launch community two decades ago that almost decimated that industry."

Actually our socialist government these days put every possible obstacle they can think of to block any profitable economic activity that isn't run by the elite. Obama has single handedly destroyed small businesses in this country. Startups are at an all time low.

In this way a top down, vertical feudal society can be created, and we can all become serfs again, on our own land.

Seems like this goes way beyond Obama though. This crap is happening on a global level.

As if everybody could afford to go to space on vacation anyway.

Welcome to the forum Seven Thunders! cheers.gif

Actually our centrist government these days put every possible obstacle they can think of to block any profitable economic activity that isn't run by the elite.

Actually our cd/green government these days put every possible obstacle they can think of to block any profitable economic activity that isn't run by the elite.

Etc etc etc

That's funny - still looks absolutely true.

Well it's symantics really. No reason to get upset about the labels. But corporatism = socialism and actually crony capitalism = socialism. In every socialist country there are "preferred providers", who run all of the major industries. They may or may not be officially state owned but that's just a veneer.

If in turn a few monopolies take over the state and thus take over key industries in a country, that can not be distinguished from socialism. So I define socialism in a broad sense, wherein economic power now resides in the hands of a very few monopolists.

The next phase of the enslavement process is a return to outright feudalism, where we are all property of the state. So I am not surprised at all that they want to control space. The economic possibilities of space are unlimited and unfettered access to space could threaten monopolistic power.

In the same way they hate sole proprieters and anyone who starts a business because that reduces the dependency on the central government.
