Scientists Wowed by First Look at Brain on LSD

Quote:"We observed brain changes under LSD that suggested our volunteers were 'seeing with their eyes shut' -- albeit they were seeing things from their imagination rather than from the outside world," explained study leader Robin Carhart-Harris in a statement.

"We saw that many more areas of the brain than normal were contributing to visual processing under LSD -- even though the volunteers' eyes were closed. Furthermore, the size of this effect correlated with volunteers' ratings of complex, dreamlike visions."

Quote:The results revealed that the barriers between the sections of the brain that perform specialised functions break down under the influence of LSD.

Quote:"It is also related to what people sometimes call 'ego-dissolution', which means the normal sense of self is broken down and replaced by a sense of reconnection with themselves, others and the natural world.

Quote: In many ways, the brain in the LSD state resembles the state our brains were in when we were infants: free and unconstrained.

Quote:Adding music to the mix caused even more interesting changes in brain activity, causing the visual cortex to receive more information from the region of the brain associated with mental imagery and personal memory. Under the influence of both music and LSD, the study participants reported seeing even more complex visions, such as memories played out as scenes.

Cool, huh? That is probably as close to our true "selves" as we can get on this planet. I would love to see the brain scans of people on other hallucinogens like shrooms, ayahuasca, DMT, etc. And maybe they should try a Native American drum circle instead of classical music.

A few weeks ago I read a couple of other articles (That I meant to post and forgot) about taking daily micro doses of LSD. The results they got were amazing. Greatly improved cognitive functions, mood, stamina, etc.

Anyone have a spare bottle?

It has also been shown to be extremely effective in the treatment of mental disorders like schizophrenia. Even more importantly, it has shown to be very effective at curing addiction, especially alcoholism.

But it gets you high so ğck those people. Let them, and their loved ones, suffer.

Yeah it's tradition to force suffering. Been that way since the 30's.

Yeah it's tradition to force suffering. Been that way since the 30's.

Been that way since we first had chiefs and kings. Got a tremendous boost of hate and suffering when we got monotheistic religions.

well when i tried it, it ƒükkêd me up too much.

gave me many hours of freaked out anxiety.. was not at all a good time.

i could handle depression way better than an lsd trip..

i am sure my brain was all lit up like that too.. high alert and alarms all over the place i bet..

not something i would try for fixing anything..

unless it was made into some very low dosage.. that it wouldnt trip you out.

maybe that is what they mean to do.

Just Plain Nuts.

The first few times you do it you should be in a relaxed, controlled environment with people who are experienced and can talk you down. Once you get talked down and flow with it it is an amazing experience.

I feel ya. Bud is my choice also. But it is REALLY mellow when you can flow with it. It's groooovy, maaaannn.

Percocet and some good bud will make you pretty groovy too, but without the spiritual enlightenment.
