As recently as last month the people of Cadiz and Sevilla, which have a reported unemployment rate of 32%, joined together to loot local grocery stores of three tons of food– some of which was distributed to local food banks.

The second vid, the gov is handing out fines up to 750 euros for people who collect food from garbage bins. WTF??

Also says they aren't taking teevees or booze, just food. Fuuuuck.

Hard data is still being collected, but experts at the Reuters Food and Agriculture Summit in Chicago this week said an estimated 30 percent to 50 percent of the food produced in the world goes uneaten.

The average American throws away 33 pounds of food each month -- about $40 worth -- according to the Natural Resources Defense Council, which plans to publish a report on food waste in April.

In a year, that means each person throws away almost 400 pounds of food, the weight of an adult male gorilla.

Waste not, want not. However lets not throw the word food around lightly, most of what people are eating can't really be deemed healthy nutrious food. It does more harm than good, because we as a species are ouf of sync with the environment of the planet.

I would also hazard a guess, that most food is thrown out not by the consumer, but by the supermarket.

So whats for dinner with spinach & Lettuce?

Bacon sounds good.

Bacon sounds good with everything chuckle.gif But not today, just leftover stew from yesterday with chicken, zucchini, carrots and onions. And with that a big salad with lettuce, spinach, tomato, cucumber, bell pepper, red onion and avocado.

chuckle.gif I love plants doobie.gif

Nevertheless this dumpster diving for groceries is going to be more and more commonplace worldwide in the next few months. Will be interesting to see if other countries follow suit.

Shadow is probably spot on, the owners don't want customers to see hungry people going through the bins. This is all a bit of social engineering and will be the new "normal" everywhere soon. All part of the population reduction scheme. 13.gif
