We are closer to doom than any time since the Cold War, say scientists

Scientists have advanced the 'Doomsday Clock' by two minutes — and it’s closer to midnight than it has been since 1987

A group of scientists formed to predict how close humanity to annihilation has said that we are closer than ever before — warnings of the “truly terrible prospects” facing us.

The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists was established in 1947, in the wake of the atomic bomb, to predict how close we are to catastrophe. It uses a clock as a metaphor to show how much danger the world is in, moving it closer to midnight as the end becomes more likely.

The Bulletin said today that it was moving the clock to three minutes to midnight.

Global warming and nuclear accidents are the biggest risks to humanity, the panel that control the group said as they announced the change.

Looks like even the scientists are promoting panic sex at this point hyper.gif

This reminds me of an interesting thing;

Someone comes up with a controversial theory, just a common guy, who to prove his point mentions a scientist or 2 who backs up the theory.

Another common guy who disagrees with all that, to prove his point mentions other scientists who are against the theory.

So we have a hot controversial issue and scientists who do not agree with each other.

Now if any of the scientists are right, one of the common guys, the one who agrees is also correct, but does this make him a wiser guy than the other scientists who disagree?
