Quote:Tohoku Electric Power Company says Thursday night's strong earthquake caused water to overflow from spent fuel storage pools at one of its nuclear power plants.

The power company reported on Friday that water had spilled onto the floor at all 3 reactors at the Onagawa nuclear power plant in Miyagi Prefecture. The amount of water spilled was 3.8 liters at the most.

The utility firm also found water leaks at 5 locations in the plant, including inside buildings housing the reactors.

The company added that blowout panels--devices designed to control pressure inside the buildings--were damaged at the turbine building of the Number 3 reactor.

The newly reported problems add to the downing of 3 of 4 external power lines at the Onagawa plant. The plant is maintaining its cooling capabilities with the remaining power line.

Tohoku Electric Power Company is continuing its efforts to determine the extent of the damage caused by the latest quake. But it says no change has yet been seen in radiation levels around the plant.

Just when you thought there could not be any more doom! gaah.gif

You would think they would shut down all of the plants in the area until they can be inspected and the quakes/aftershocks stop.

What politics from both sides wants to teach us is that things are never complex. If you have your little package and something doesn't fit into that package, You don't know what to make of it so you want to dismiss it or then you will have to do the work of reconsidering your assumptions. - Michael Malice

From what I've been reading, Japan lost 29% (?) of their electric energy when the tsunami hit, they have rolling blackouts and yesterday's quake cost another ~1 million households to lose electricity. They're skating on thin ice because you're right, the best thing would be to shut them down but they won't. Cover up and all...

After all this death, and untold horrors in the making; their own PTB still can't admit total failure and shut them down. It reflects a greater love for status quo on the part of the brain dead "think tanks" that feebly attempt to run the show.

The War on Civil Liberties...sorry, War on Terror, total failure. TPTB wont admit it.

The War on Drugs total failure. TPTB wont admit it.

Our Elite that fancy themselves the ruling class have cast themselves in the role of stupid lumbering outdated mental midget miserable failures. Each and every one of those corporations in suits and dresses.

In the past religion was used to keep the poor from killing the rich, now that people in the western world are throwing off those shackles, what guarantees do they have anymore?
