One a separate note, I must admit I'm disappointed by your response. To express such cynicism after what was expressed could have taken my breath away much like the statue did the opposite. But I choose not to live my life that way, although I certainly did live that way for a long time.

I gave it up because it sucks stale air at best. You're invited to give it up also.

It is not cynicism, rather I was just relaying to you what I learned about that statue. If you aren't interested in whether a statue you are viewing is a reproduction or not, then you are free to do so, but I prefer to know whether I am viewing the real thing. It has everything to do with knowing the truth, which is not cynical, rather the best way I choose to live my life. Actually, you needn't insulted me, but rather you could have asked if I had the right location of the reproduction, perhaps I was wrong there. Talk about sucking stale air at its best.

Duplicates don't do what the real one did. There are two inferior "Davids" outside the building where the real one resides near the front door. They have little or no energy.

The idea that David could be reproduced - it's SCULPTURE made from 30-year-old Carrara Marble! - is so bizarre. Some claims just need to be dismissed out of hand.

So why not explain that in the first place and choose to not insult first?

Sorry. thought I did when I wrote, "Would a reproduction send lightning through the hall?"

I didn't mean to insult but probably I did. It really bothered me that a potentially inspirational message would get dismissed with what to me was a preposterous assertion regardless of what the source might have been. To me a claim like that wouldn't be much different than someone claiming we are all actually robots made from parts manufactured from the planet Zepton. Just because someone says something stupid on TV doesn't make it true.

My own story should have confirmed for you that whoever said the statue had been replaced with a replica was promoting crazy talk. Repeating it without that caveat to me was a disservice. No credibility should be given to nonsense like that.

I am glad you had an inspirational experience but your expectations or needs of others' responses or emotions should be checked because this is the internet and we are basically strangers and everyone has different sensibilities and needs.

Really? Maybe you should take your own advice.

If you trigger that easily, that's probably something you need to work on rather than expect the rest of us to read your mind or feelings.

I was not triggered, you were because you were disappointed at not receiving an expected/needed response when I challenged if the statue was the real deal.

Quote:Replicas of Michelangelo's David have been made numerous times, in plaster, imitation marble, fibreglass, snow, and other materials.[1] There are many full-sized replicas of the statue around the world, perhaps the most prominent being the one in the original's position in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy, placed there in 1910. The original sculpture was moved indoors in 1873 to the Accademia Gallery in Florence, where it attracts many visitors. Others were made for study at art academies in the late nineteenth century and later, while the statue has also been replicated for various commercial reasons or as artistic statements in their own right. Smaller replicas are often considered kitsch.[2]

I don't need your permission to include others in my comments. See how that works? You're not the boss of me.
