if you're not in Portland Or.
it's 90% FAT people
waddle waddle WADDLE FART is all you see and hear there
On a serious note: I believe a lot of this is due to Garbage in our food. Almost everything on the grocery store shelves has been perverted beyond recognition by additives and synthesized chemicals. Until we stand up and do battle with the Food Manufacturers and boycott them until they make the changes we want, obesity and poor health will continue.
I'm not saying its the total cause of the problem, buts a good place to start.
Another area that needs looking into is the relationship between Depression and Obesity. I recently read an article that said 38% of Americans were on some sort of Anti-depressant. That's a whopping 1 in 3 !
The sad part of the situation is Corporations are profiting from this epidemic of Obesity. Its all one big interconnected game. Just follow the money trail.

I think it's the same area actually. I think highly refined food, especially sugar laden (including grains that turn into sugar when you chew it) cause bad things to happen in our body. It's causing overgrowth of bad gut bacteria and considering 80% of our immune system resides in our gut it's obviously a really bad idea. People are whacked out because of bad diets and antidepressants won't help.
Ok, I'm not American, but we have fat people here too. I feel a bit sad when I see young fat people, their parents should know better.

I agree with you. I think one of the best decisions I ever made in my life was to sell my TV. I feel like such a more active and smarter person ever since I got rid of my TV. I spend a lot more time out in nature and I seem to notice animals more, including the smallest ones. I would't trade the life I have now back for the life I had when I watched TV. I feel like life is simply too short to spend my time doing passive activities, other than eating or sleeping and such.
For example, the same guy that works during the day in a profession, can come home in the evening, put new brakes on the car, redo the plumbing under the sink etc..
He said people from India don't do that, they call others specialized in whatever they need. As far as industrious, I'd have to agree that a lot of Americans are indeed just that.
I don't know that I would use the term most intelligent, as with most places there are geniuses and idiots. That's a difficult generalization to get behind.
I don't see much "USA #1" crap anymore lol, statistically it's number one at putting people in jail.
