The brain is a fascinatingly complex little bugger. According to the article he had some connection to Sweden. An ex-wife thought he had two sisters there.

The man apparently spoke multiple languages having taught English in Japan and China for, what was it, 10 years?

What it would men is that the portion of his brain that stored Swedish wasn't as injured as the portion that contained other memories.

The brain is a fascinating thing for sure. It hasn't been confirmed he has any family in Sweden, but if I find any more info on this I'll post it.

There's myriad of reasons that could cause this. The problem is Swedish isn't just something a native born American starts speaking.
He learned it somewhere at some point. A woman that lived in Sarasota had a stroke and thereafter could not speak without a British accent. wtf2.gif http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3235934.stm
Very strange stuff.

That's beyond f'd up on so many levels.

I hope he can get it together on a pleasant level for the remainder of which ever life he winds up in.

Since the doctors are still mystified by his condition there's a chance he is still taking statins (if they were discovered in the room with him.)

So long as he continues taking them, his chances of recovery are nil. If they continue too long, it could turn into permanent amnesia.

The makers of these statin drugs deny that they cause amnesia. So most doctors wouldn't associate those drugs with his problems.
