Ankara has urged the UN to send officials to its border with Syria, as record numbers of refugees fleeing Syria have poured into Turkey in less than two days. Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called UN chief Ban Ki-moon on Friday after more than 2,800 Syrians crossed into the country in the last 36 hours, AFP reports. Turkey wants UN officials to study the situation on the ground. The number of Syrians currently staying in Turkey has reached 23,835 by the weekend, the country's Disaster and Emergency Management department said.
Sort of ironic. NATO uses Turkey as a conduit for arming Syrian rebels and is upset the Syrians don't want to be shot at? ffs.
