Quote:A man from Saskatoon, Canada visiting Africa unknowingly became infected with Ebola-type virus and on his way home, traveled through two U.S. International Airports: New York and Minneapolis. Within days of his trip, another man in Minneapolis was diagnosed with the same Ebola-type hemorrhagic virus! Since the infected man traveled through a New York City area airport, the Ebola virus may be in New York City

It seems the incubation period is 12 days. Here's some good advice...

Quote:Beware the Globe-Trotting Tourist, or Business Entrepreneur ; it may very well pay to remain out of Droplet-Inhalation Range of anybody who's been breathing at any International Airport, over the past Fortnight...

Why aren't the quarantining all types of travel?

Fatal virus in Ghana tests negative for Ebola

Quote:ACCRA, April 7 (Reuters) - Blood tests have shown that a 12-year-old girl in Ghana who died of viral fever with bleeding did not have Ebola, Health Minister Sherry Ayittey said on Monday.

"The report from the Noguchi Memorial Institute says categorically that the samples of the blood they analysed is negative ID Ebola virus and also negative of any common viral fever," Ayittey told a news conference.

Quote:Experts say that Ebola is carried by fruit bats living in West Africa, and that it could have been transmitted to a human who ate a bat or another animal that had bitten by a bat.

I wonder if the ebola virus could mutuate within another type of animal, after being bitten by an infected fruit bat?

Some people are blaming Doctors Without Borders for bringing ebola to their community, where it never existed before. That brings up a question in my mind, are doctors quarantined at all during their medical travels?

Liberia: Ebola Manhunt - Biker Likely Carrying Virus On the Run

Quote:Monrovia — The motorcyclist who drove the last victim of the deadly Ebola virus in Liberia is reported to be ailing and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare wants the public help in finding him before he spread it on to others.

Health Minister Dr. Walter Gwenigale made the disclosure last Friday shortly after the World Health Organization (WHO) presented a consignment of protective gears to Liberia to aid health workers in the fight against the killer virus.

"The motorcycle driver who drove that sick woman to firestone and the woman has already died, that motorcycle driver is sick," the minister said.

Unlike the past, this didn't burn itself out. Ebola supposedly transmits in the same fashion as AIDS - so, how is some guy on a bike spreading that around?
He's either good looking and charismatic or we're screwed.

Quote:At least 157 people have been infected or are suspected to be infected in Guinea and Liberia, and 101 of them have died, WHO officials said Tuesday. They are chasing down suspected cases in three more countries and trying to track 600 people at risk of becoming infected.

Did you see the last part of the article?

WHO has no immediate plans to recommend travel restrictions, Fukuda says. “We don’t think stopping people from travel is going to help,” he said.

Holy shït.

I turned myself to consider wisdom and madness and folly
The wise man’s eyes are in his head,
But the fool walks in darkness.
Yet I myself perceived
That the same event happens to them all.

That's really odd considering the way they shrieked about swine flu pandemic that didn't happen. Oh, but there's no vaccine for ebola so no money to be made coffeetime.gif

Could be, all I know is ebola is frightening as hell, and it should only take a few weeks of travel restrictions do to how fast it moves and kills to quarantine.

You ever see some of the stats on the swine flu in the 70's?

The strain itself killed one person and hospitalized 13. However, side-effects from the vaccine are thought to have caused five hundred cases of Guillain–Barré syndrome and 25 deaths

West African Ebola outbreak to last 2-4 months: WHO

Quote:"We fully expect to be engaged in this outbreak for the next two to three to four months before we are comfortable that we are through it," Dr. Keija Fukuda, WHO assistant director-general, told a Geneva news briefing.

http://www.worldbulletin.net/health-envi...months-who

These numbers are going to soar before they get this under control. Letting it 'Die Out" doesn't seem to be an option this time. Specially with cases in Conakry .In 2009 the estimated population of Conakry was 1,548,500

This could easily turn into the Zombie Apocalypse. Spooky stuff there.
