Heilongjiang - Three unidentified flying objects were spotted falling from the sky and landing in two places in Heilongjiang province about 6:00 am Friday, Chinanews.com reported.

The Yi'an county government confirmed in the afternoon that Mengchang villagers heard a big noise and then saw a big ball of fire falling down to a vegetable garden belonging to a villager.

Photos taken by villagers showed that the object is a metal ball, half-covered by a layer with a jagged edge.

Two other similar objects were spotted falling from the sky and down to the neighboring Baiquan county.

One object had a diameter of 70 centimers and weighed around 40 kilograms, China Central Television reported.

The two places have been blocked off, and an investigation is underway.

If it's space junk, then why didn't it burn up in the atmosphere?

Quote:Witnesses and committee members agreed as the hearing closed that effectively managing space transportation, clearing debris from orbit and protecting the planet from strikes by near-Earth objects are all challenges that will require national and international effort.

Here's an interesting space junk collection article.

I have to say I'm not familiar with anything that looks like this. Like, metal balls that had a birthday party at Burger King. 13.gif
They are somewhat reminiscent of some of the very early satellites, Sputnik etc, however, satellites of this size would have burned up in the atmosphere upon reentry.
I can't totally rule out space junk, but I'm thinking only a 5% chance or less.

Russian media reported that an issue with the rocket occurred about 94 miles above the Earth and ultimately the rocket and its cargo crashed across parts of Siberia and the Pacific Ocean

Yeah and then i cant wait to hear and or read about them trying to explain how these objects didnt burn up or at least become blackened and melted and warped from the extreme heat and pressure of re-entering earths atmosphere like every other natural and man made object does and especially after slamming into the ground at high velocity unless of course they were deliberately guided and intentionally landed here from origins unknown?!
