Universal Flu Vaccine Offers Immunity for Life from all Influenza75

Scientists have successfully completed the first trials of a new flu vaccine that could provide immunity against all known strains of flu and may offer life-long immunity.

People currently have to have vaccine in injections every year to deal with variants of the influenza virus and mutations that render the old vaccines useless.

The research team, led by Dr Sarah Gilbert of the Jenner Institute at Oxford University in the UK, has developed and tested a new vaccine.

The new vaccine targets vital proteins located well inside the flu virus that are a fundamental building block for the virus. The protein has not changed for 40 years and appears unlikely to change. These internal proteins that are common across all strains.

In the past the vaccines have targeted proteins that sit on the virus's external coat, and which are much more liable to mutate.

How can it possibly immunize you for lige when the influenza virus constantly mutates?

I believe I'll pass on that.

It's probably the immunization the will be offering before they release their population control measures on us. The easily influenced sheep will be the ones to take the shot and that is exactly what the POO wants.

13.gif Funny you should say that, just 10 minutes ago I read the local news about "Cold viruses and mycoplasma bacteria making their rounds among the population"

Never seen mycoplasma mentioned in this context and probably NEVER in the local news. However some dead microbiologists were involved in mycoplasma research and engineering damned.gif

Well, well.... I wonder if this will be a "mandatory" vaccine? I'll take it when they will inject my cold dead body with it.

Worse and worse damned.gif

did a little searching, seems the study was funded by Wellcome Trust

The Wellcome Trust was established in 1936 as an independent charity funding research to improve human and animal health. With an endowment of around £13.9 billion, it is the United Kingdom's largest non-governmental source of funds for biomedical research

Also....

GlaxoWellcome and SmithKline merged in 2000 to become GlaxoSmithKline

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burroughs_Wellcome

So the study was funded (at least in part) by the Gates Foundation and the vaccine will be produced by GSK.

I don't want immunity for life, there's something inherently wrong with those who never get sick. 13.gif It could be detrimental to our immune system to not have to fight colds and flu, we evolved with that, and I feel it's necessary.
Colds and flu viruses will continue to evolve.
Would our immune system be capable of dealing with a new exotic virus without the slow adaptations created by a normal immune system that evolves?
Could this vaccine actually suppress our immunity in the end?
