We have light snowfall today, ideal to find fresh tracks...

Oh hell no! slap.gif

I've not heard anything new today so far, but a wolf was spotted walking casually between houses in a small town down the coast. Not from the same pack I assume, but they can travel 20 to 30 kilometers per day so who knows. I just don't think they feel the need to go anywhere else yet... damned.gif

I know the horse riding folks have been told to stay off that forest road where they were seen. The same road we like to walk in the summer. It's
a bit too close and quite wild and woolly out there. Lots of snakes too 13.gif

Ok so some things are being done at the upper level. This is important as hunting regulation is largely based on the Species- and Habitat directive

http://ec.europa.eu/environment/nature/l...dex_en.htm

Today Nils Torvalds (SPP), member of the EU parliament and also Linus Torvalds' dad, submitted a letter to the EU commission pointing to some issues with that directive as it protects one species by allowing it to grow uncontrollably and drive other not previously endangered species to being dangerously decimated. As an example he mentions the success story of the white tailed sea eagle driven to almost extinction throughout Europe in the 70s.

Now, because of this another species is threatened, the Eider. The bird with the legendary feathers... *sigh*

New fallen snow today, we're taking cameras and looking for tracks.
Hope we come back with something.

Well we did walk over to where JR spotted the tracks earlier, but there was nothing. We got a layer of snow overnight so fresh tracks would have stood out. Noticed too not many people had walked that path today 13.gif

uh huh. I believe people are staying the heck away from areas where they have been spotted.

It was probably an outcast. The wolves will stick together.

What politics from both sides wants to teach us is that things are never complex. If you have your little package and something doesn't fit into that package, You don't know what to make of it so you want to dismiss it or then you will have to do the work of reconsidering your assumptions. - Michael Malice

Yes probably, but they shouldn't be roaming around the neighborhood either 13.gif
