Update!

A wolf was killed today in one of the villages just outside town. Not one of the licensed ones either.

This guy was leaving for work at about 7 am this morning only to find a wolf in his yard. The wolf growled and showed his teeth and approached the man and was no more than a meter and a half from him. The man retreated into the house and called the cops who arrived with wildlife experts. They tracked it to find it had been visiting 7 other yards. The protocol is that a wolf that shows threatening behavior towards humans is to be terminated.

At 9:45 the hunt started and at 12:45 the wolf was dead.

It growled and bared its teeth....  damned.gif

Another update as details become available; The guy (who I actually know) went to his car and this wolf came around the corner. I guess they were both startled. Guy retreated into the house etc.

Wolf is still dead though

One reason why you don't want wolves sneaking around your yard is that traditionally you put your babies to nap outside, winter or summer. I know it sounds weird to most people, but in Scandinavia plus Finland it's actually a thing and has been for decades.

The babies who nap in sub-zero temperatures:

Wolves are changing our daily routine and it's not ok.

the Wolves are not in your neighborhood ,,,

you are in theirs .

they just happen to be taking it back .  bleh.gif

Ok so that is very weird, would be child abuse in the cold temp states like mine.
(Plus the wildlife factor here in the north)

No that's actually incorrect. Humans here have been reclaiming land since the last ice age

Well that's up for debate cuz..according to this:
Finland is situated at the centre of the area covered by the Scandinavian Ice Sheet
during the Late Pleistocene. The history of Finnish mammals provides an excellent
opportunity to investigate immigration routes and the shaping of the mammalian
fauna in a previously glaciated area. On the other hand, research has been
complicated by the fact that the repeated glaciations have left behind a landscape
practically devoid of fossil bearing deposits.
In Finland even Early Holocene faunal remains are scarce, due mainly to the
poor preservation of bones in the acid soil. Only a few stray finds of subfossil bones
of terrestrial mammals have been unearthed in Finland

This site was interesting as well.
Your winters aren't even near extreme cold like mine are here.
In fact yours are pleasant in comparison.

Killing foxes through the bottom of a cage like that is insane. Octo, you JR and Mason need to steer clear of that area, don't make me start worrying about you guys. gaah.gif

I was just wondering if it was a dog/wolf hybrid, or a wild dog in a pack that has wolf genes?

No hybrid is possible. Dogs do not possess the jaw muscles to kill a fox through the bottom of a cage. Pure wolf.

Why do you assume it was one wolf with one set of teeth?

West Palm? Isn't that where all the shootings are? Bullets rip apart flesh too.
