the Wolves are not in your neighborhood ,,,

you are in theirs .

they just happen to be taking it back .  bleh.gif
A lot of truth to that^

No that's actually incorrect. Humans here have been reclaiming land since the last ice age
Well that's up for debate cuz..according to this:
Finland is situated at the centre of the area covered by the Scandinavian Ice Sheet
during the Late Pleistocene. The history of Finnish mammals provides an excellent
opportunity to investigate immigration routes and the shaping of the mammalian
fauna in a previously glaciated area. On the other hand, research has been
complicated by the fact that the repeated glaciations have left behind a landscape
practically devoid of fossil bearing deposits.
In Finland even Early Holocene faunal remains are scarce, due mainly to the
poor preservation of bones in the acid soil. Only a few stray finds of subfossil bones
of terrestrial mammals have been unearthed in Finland

People have inhabited this coast for at least over a thousand years. I assume wolves have been around for as long. When wolf population has grown out of control, it has been decimated to close to extinction. This country isn't heavily populated and there's plenty of room inland for wolves.

And yes, our winters aren't as extreme as yours, our winters are similar to those in Michigan as we're close to water.

A wolf was killed today in one of the villages just outside town. Not one of the licensed ones either.

This guy was leaving for work at about 7 am this morning only to find a wolf in his yard. The wolf growled and showed his teeth and approached the man and was no more than a meter and a half from him. The man retreated into the house and called the cops who arrived with wildlife experts. They tracked it to find it had been visiting 7 other yards. The protocol is that a wolf that shows threatening behavior towards humans is to be terminated.

At 9:45 the hunt started and at 12:45 the wolf was dead.

It growled and bared its teeth....  damned.gif

I was just wondering if it was a dog/wolf hybrid, or a wild dog in a pack that has wolf genes?

There is debate over the whether the wolf dna database is contaminated with dog dna so it's gonna take a while to sort out. It's not "wild dogs", there's been no reports of dogs roaming around the woods. And nobody has ever heard about such a thing around here.

I'm sure it will take a few weeks for the dna test results from the dead wolf to come back. I'll keep y'all posted.

Saw the tracks first hand, as far as I could see there were no dogs involved here at all.
The fresh paw prints size and the length of claws would eliminate all dogs less a pack of 7 feral Irish Wolfhounds, and calculate those odds.  rofl.gif
I Grew up in the upper Midwest, and know the dif between dog/wolf/coyote tracks.
Clearly wolf.

yup.gif Shocking isn't it? Most people don't realize they are larger than most dogs.

This has gone on between man and wolf throughout history. The more that things change, the more they stay the same.
