I cant say how it is for everywhere else, but around here in southern new england (taxachusetts) the average rent for just a one bedroom is like about $1,000 a month (finding any less than that and you'll be in a rancid bug and crime infested ghetto) and to make matters much worse, most renters around here demand first and last and sometimes even security, which means one months rent times two or three paid up front, which means most peoples rent hopes are financially obliterated from the beginning......

At this house, there are 5 other room mates. i would be the 6th and I would live in half of the basement. The other half is a screen print shop and storage. It's cheaper that way. as long as they respect my privacy and my personal belongings, I have no problems with room mates. as long as they aren't trying to kill each other every day.

best thing going in Portland for rent
is call the marinas

ask if they have any lien sale boats to buy

you cane get them for free even
then pay $125 a month and live on the boat
they have showers and laundry
with free wifi too

you can sit on the boat and cook your meals like i did
and use the wifi while you snack and stuff cheeks

harbor 1,,,, always has some cabin cruiser for sale for about $300 to $500

and rent at that marina is $105 a month

cheapest seats you can get .

check portland oregon craigslist boats and type in harbor 1

see what they have

they have one for free
an old 1964 Cris Craft that has been gutted so stay away from that one
it is JUNk

NOT ALL OF THOSE

I saw those too

I know those boats

Call Mark and ask him for the # of the lady who has a houseboat for sale

she wants $500 for it

it is in the slip and ready to live aboard

I lived on my Boats over on the island at the upscale marina
Columbia Crossings

look them up and call them over there and see what they have for upcoming auction boats

cheapest rent in Portland

and quiet serene
no neighbors
no room mates

no noise

no one to bother you

Just pay first months slip fee and you are in

$3 of the $128 is for the wifi

i can't get wifi that cheap

Mc Cudys has some boats too

check all the marinas man

call them all

find out what's out there .

you can shine shoes and make the rent ,,, it is so cheap

Sometimes thats the best way,for awhile I shared a 4 bedroom house with 3 other people who each paid $500 a month,$125 a week, instead of one or two people struggling to pay for everything...

The rent prices around here are outrageous and I dont like living here very much...

But theres no blood thirsty wild tigers and lions and wolves and bears roaming around looking for fresh meat and theres no poisonous snakes and spiders slithering and crawling all over the place either...

So I guess its not so bad, except for the fact that almost everythings over priced and if anyone doesnt like it or cant deal with it,thats too damn bad for them...

my 28 foot Bayliner cabin cruiser cost me only $500

I bought it right there from the owner , in the slip

started it right up and took it right out and up the river cruising

if you go down there , it is just east of north 33rd street and Marine drive

the best thing is to talk to the guys in the Marina who live aboard
they know who has what for sale in there

a lot of people want to sell their boats
but are too lazy to advertize them .
