So here's the story and video from the event.
We've raised over a million dollars over the years through our Drive4Rebecca foundation, helping many different charities, and we are well known in our town.
My daughter attends a school we helped establish called REED Academy and my son just graduated from the middle school that sent out an announcement about a "stranger" lurking in their midst.
We weren't "handing out" donuts nor were we photographing children. The donuts were out there for anyone to take, and the kids took their own photos.
We were just playing music, dancing, and my daughter and our babysitter were sitting in my car where the donut were saying hi to the many people waving from their cars.
We have a great relationship with the police. They got there before the kids arrived and stuck around pretty much the entire time we were there.
We were in full view of scores of parents carpooling their kids.
Our terrific police officers who had no problem with what we were doing simply asked us to move down the street a bit because we were parked right next to a four way stop sign that can get congested and that's where the kids cross.
We were purposely parked close to the board of education offices because we wanted this to be a pre-party for parents before a 9am Q&A with the superintendent.
If you look at our video of the event, you will see it was purely entertainment:

and a follow up to some silly events we did the year before with Moses and his Lamborghini in connection with The Daily Show and a book project that was successfully funded on Kickstarter:

We've gotten a lot of local publicity for our efforts over the years.
Calling the police and sending out the "stranger danger" announcement was a poor attempt at a smear campaign by a school district that is desperate to get back at me for exposing their unconscionable behavior towards parents of children with special which goes on everywhere.
This was yet another egregious example of retaliation that will be added to our complaint with the ACLU
