Quote:In Health today we started a new project! Students will be preparing and presenting a civil court case to prove negligent behavior of a defendant. Today we discussed terminology of a court case and received the information booklet needed to prepare the case. It is a creative way to read and learn about alcohol and other drugs, the laws associated with the drugs, and the responsibility community members have to keep a community safe.
This weekend students are to READ the facts, deposition, and affidavits of the case. It is important that your child comes back Monday having read the material and prepared to work with their group. They were given 15 minutes at the end of class today to get started.
Depending on the case, here are the page numbers your child should read:
Drinking and Driving = pg 1-25
Alcohol and School Policies = 1-18
Marijuana = pg 1-24
Prescription Drug Use = pg 1-27
Now they are teaching high school freshmen the glories of law suits.
I am speaking of the life of a man who knows that the world is not given by his fathers, but borrowed from his children; who has undertaken to cherish it and do it no damage, not because he is duty-bound, but because he loves the world and loves his children… - Wendell Berry, 1971
