The dangers faced by children once they are on the streets are often even worse than those they were desperate to escape at home. They are highly vulnerable and an easy target for abusers. Violence and sexual exploitation often become a way of life. Frequently they’re even necessary for survival.
Children living on the streets often become involved in drug use as their only escape from the horrors of reality.
With no support or protection, children live with constant fear, loneliness and hopelessness. They can see no way out; no opportunity to escape the relentless poverty, violence, hunger and abuse.

chuckle.gif I know what you mean. I've not seen any homeless people in this town, but it's pretty small. Sure we have those same caliber drunktards, but they do get accommodation or they'd die during cold season. If a kid is left homeless it's quickly taken care of by social services.

chuckle.gif with nazi hive mind i mean that most germans still think that arbeit macht frei. working goes above everything in germany although wages not only stagnate since 2000 but also lost abou 10% of their real purchase power as far as i know. but maybe im wrong. i just woke up so im a bit confused.^^

edit: i know a 21 year old girl who has 3 jobs. D: i'd rather rob a bank than taking 3 jobs. xD

Same mentality here. Favorite bible mantra would be "in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread". I'm sure a bunch of people here would be proud to work 3 jobs. That's a lot of sweat and bread. damned.gif

sweat and bread... sounds like they've got some weird fetish. chuckle.gif

chuckle.gif I never really looked at it like that before, but I'm thinking that would be a mood ruiner as I make it a policy not to eat anything I've sweat on.
Admittedly, I didn't even realize I had a policy on that per se, till it was brought up... 37.gif

btw that 21 year old girl who works 3 jobs told me today that she loves to wear exclusive provocative lingerie... then she told me that she has no boyfriend... she brought that up out of nothing... damned.gif
should i tell her that i hate working and that i love to hang around and get drunk? chuckle.gif

(sorry for derailing the thread ^^")

jesus, and i don't even want to go to work today. i'd rather sleep a couple of hours and watch a dvd or read a book or play some video games.^^

Poverty is a commodity. sad2.gif

it's more like people are a commodity...
as long as we don't see other people as what they are - human beings that share the same feelings fears joys etc like we do - there's no chance to escape this vicious circle of poverty. unfortunately the end of poverty would also be the end of the rich because their wealth relies on cheap work.

Here's another item of news that fits in with this thread.

Gomel traffic police conducted an experiment to test the willingness of drivers to help the victim in an accident.

186 cars passed by and only 9 stopped!

This is a translation from this site http://auto.tut.by/news/gai/390817.html

Life is the most expensive, and seat covers can be washed

In total, the event lasted about an hour. Corks of staying vehicles, alas, was not formed - most raced without reducing speed. Drivers who could not drive past, you could count on the fingers. At the next crossroads drivers were awarded prizes from the sponsor - boxes for license plates and calendars. participating in covering stocks journalists questioned the motives of behavior, interested in the opinion of the appropriateness of such checks. As it turned out, some of the interviewees have been exposed to such situations in their driver's practice. - I recently had a - before the new year, the Moscow highway, - said Mikhail Ilyutin pensioner. - Of course, then stopped, too, helped. What else? same story told worker SP "Alcopack" Sergei Karpov: - About two years ago near the village Device (Gomel region. - TUT.BY), driving, just saw a cyclist who lay unconscious. Stopped, walked, brought him to his senses - a man's head was cut, there was blood. I ran for a first aid kit, called an ambulance and the police. Tried to ask about the car: the brand, the color, the room in which direction left, but people only remember the moment of impact and nothing more. Then came the traffic police are also grateful for the help ... The greatest optimism called the episode when on the sidelines immediately stopped two cars, marching one by one. - I was thirty years working as a truck driver and saw all, - said one of the drivers named Michael. - course , people need to learn and such actions should spend. Along inspectors were counting cars drove past the site where the experiment was conducted, as well as reports of "accident." Most people will help a homeless cat or dog,or a cat and dog with a broken leg, before they'll even dream of helping a homeless person,or a person with a broken leg, because most people are living in greed driven denial and they know they could never become a cat or dog in any situation, but they could all too easily become an injured or homeless person and they refuse to face that frightening fact so lying to themselves while making believe those types of people dont exist is easier for most people to live with as they walk and drive around trapped in a materialistic trance half asleep...

I help homeless cats, but I don't think you can compare their situation with homeless people. I do what I can to contribute money to the organizations (people) that are out there on the street trying to help them and some don't want help, from what I've read.

I would be afraid to be the one laying there so close to the road acting like they were hurt because some idiot who doesnt know how to drive might ride along and run me over for real and then keep going like they just ran over a speed bump or something...
