Our local corner store with all this wonderful meats is shutting down shortly. This is the store with all the wonderful meat. I asked him (the butcher of the local meats and husband of the store owner) today what the hell we're going to do without him but he was as clueless panic.gif

There's no such thing. You have no idea how offroad countryside this is and how fortunate we have been to live 50 meters from his hq. Restaurants and caterers have been buying from him. tissueguy.gif

yeah you were very fortunate.
I am surrounded by forest hence have to travel about 20 miles for a real butcher that maintains his own shop,(in a very small town)getting his meats from local farmers that are very few & far inbetween in those parts & even then a real butcher like that is hard to find, rare. There is only one more heard tell by butcher himself,in opposite direction of me;him and the other, the only two within hundreds of miles..Luckily both are within the 20 mile range for me.It's worth the drive, plus i also order ahead for freezer for when i go.
These two butchers also do deer (butcher them up) etc..so are also appreciated by hunters whom are too lazy to do it themselves lol

OMG those look good. We have the same nasty excuse for kebap for the most part Decaf. Normally smothered in an awful brown ketchupy spicey sauce.

I can sympathize with you Octo being offroad country now myself. We have been fortunate to be able to get fruit and veggies directly from farmers, big and small, and now my local - very small - market will soon only be carrying local meat only and I know the meat will be excellent because they only carry local butter and cheese as well and it's really good (a very difference from the big market products). But now the only bakery close by is up for sale, so I hope whoever buys it will keep it as a bakery.

Right now I am doing a corn on the cob experiment where I am buying cobs of corn from different farm stands dotted throughout the country. The cobs of corn are all different textures and tastes.

Like Decaf, we have Döner Kebabs here as well. We have a local grill that makes a legendary Döner. They even sell their kebab sauce in liter bottles. They're actually pretty damn good.

I am planning, soon, to visit my neighbour a few miles up the road and buy some of her range free chicken eggs. I don't think I've ever eaten a fresh egg.

Seriously?
I can't even imagine that.
It's like you're not even really Canadian.
When did you immigrate to Canada?
I'm just trying to understand you.
