Seriously, why is a carrot more orange than an orange?

The orange is obviously less orange than a carrot...

So why is a carrot called a carrot and an orange called an orange?

When its obvious that an orange should have been called a carrot...

And a carrot should have been called an orange...

Who the hell makes these wrong decisions and why does everyone else automatically agree?

I love both oranges and carrots. As far as colors are concerned they're all made up in our brains anyway.

But yes, interesting question, who the hell gets to name colors? dunno.gif

And who and why and how was someone able to name an orange after a color, when its not even really that orange and a carrot gets named after a diamond? when its really orange! (*-*) just wanted to make some kind of sense of humor thread after all my usually, but not always, gloomy and frightening ones...

Spiro Agnew, that's who.

There's plenty of room for all God's creatures. Right next to the mashed potatoes!

The title of this threads headline, why is a carrot more orange than an orange? is actually the name of a song by ted nugents first band, the amboy dukes and its on their second album, journey to the center of the mind, from 1968...

Funny too the color orange is orange in Swedish as well. Pronounced slightly different as is the case in Finnish, still the same word for it 'oranssi'.

Love the color yellow. It was in fact my color as one out of 4 siblings when we had things color coded. Nobody looks good in yellow however.

Heres a "red" hot pepper...

Notice its "green" color >

İmage

I suppose "red" is used to describe its burning hot like "fire" flavor...

Even though the last time i ckecked "fire" was colored "orange" >

İmage

And on that "orange" note...

Why are "fire" trucks colored "red"? >

İmage

Because of their association with "fire"...

Which is colored "orange" not "red"...

So why arent "fire" trucks colored "orange"?

The english language and our material association with it sure is messed up (*-*)
