Why people go around saying Merry Christmas and Happy Easter?? To each other?
What is the purpose and what is the meaning??
Is it cultural ??
Or is it really religious ??
Easter is spring equinox and Christmas is winter solstice in the same year every year.
How does Jesus fit into these dates??

O hai Fatima. People all over have been celebrating "pagan" events long before the church ever thought of superimposing the church year to match and ultimately eradicate the existing celebrations. Jesus, if he really existed, was born in the spring, but they placed it on Christmas to kill our heathen ways.

We actually still use the word Yule for this fest.

And then there's the Yule goat...

He doesn't. Except the Vatican religion needs him to be.

Uh ,,

somehow , this thread is balanced between a " Merry " and some Yule Tide Angst going on .

I'd inquire about that strangeness , But I have a Suicide to attend Today . so , maybe some other time .
