At first glance, it’s just a great photo of nearly the entire state of Alaska on an exceptionally clear day. What could be the problem?

Well, turns out that photo shows an anomaly that some are fretting signifies yet another big shift in global climate – a shift toward the hot.

NASA writes (without saying “global warming”):

“The same ridge of high pressure that cleared Alaska's skies also brought stifling temperatures to many areas accustomed to chilly June days. Talkeetna, a town about 100 miles north of Anchorage, saw temperatures reach 96°F on June 17. Other towns in southern Alaska set all-time record highs, including Cordova, Valez, and Seward. The high temperatures also helped fuel wildfires and hastened the breakup of sea ice in the Chukchi Sea.”

Oh, crap.

WAS what? I Read this from various places on the net 96f. About five days ago. Some temperatures were comparable to some places in Miami. Where mmmf there it is.

Lori Zimmer
Alaska Blasts Through Temperature Records, Surpassing Miami in Some Areas

The surprising temperatures come after a record cold May in regions like McGrath, which is 220 miles northwest of Anchorage. On May 18, McGrath measured a chilly 15 degrees Fahrenheit, a new record low for that date. Other towns like Fairbanks, Valdez and Talkeetna have been making news with unprecedented reaches into the 90 degree realm, all while the lower 48 states have experienced cooler weather.

At the end of May our most northern part of the country (Northern Lapland) Coordinates: 69°54′N 027°01′E, was the warmest place in Europe damned.gif

Quote:Conditions in northern Finland remain exceptionally warm, with the mercury in Kevo, Utsjoki inching past the 31 degree mark Saturday to register the highest temperature for the year so far at 31.3 degrees Celsius.

On Friday Lapland broke the heat record for May, when temperatures reached 30.5 degrees. It also marked the first time that highs in Lapland passed the 30-degree mark.

Check out the temps for today, especially at the coast of Barents Sea and the White Sea. It's pretty warm up there and our Eastern parts of the country. It's around 25C here on the coast. Cloudy and so freaking humid. whew.gif

Yes it's been good so far. Normal would be just about the weather you're having patpat.gif

This persistent heat is also what has been causing the floods in Europe by steering the Atlantic lows further south than usual.

Unstoppable cycles of the sun transforms the earth from tropical jungle to frozen wasteland as sea levels rise and fall as ice ages advance and retreat again and again and theres nothing we can do about it and you and I and our tin cans and plastic bottles really have nothing to do with it although our egotistical megalomania makes us think we are responsible and humans are only a temporarily dominant species of wild animal...
