Why did Bill Gates replace the beautiful ocean cove on my screen with a rocky, black

Does he hate us that much? Or is he welcoming us to his world? And why did my keyboard freeze while attempting to capitalize his last name in the subject heading? Did the new update install a personal assistant?

Hey which one of you stopped praying for me - it was a rough week. LOL

Sorry, in trying to fix the headline, I must have cut off the ending of it. It wa supposed to read a rocky, black and gray River Styx shoreline or something like that. It's fixed now.

Apparently it's because a beautiful ocean cove "over represented" beauty. It's time for spooky foggy rocks to get their due.

Dude, it's June. Halloween is right around the corner. Time to get your spook on!

And make it quick. We start celebrating Thanksgiving next Wednesday and Christmas the day after.

I am speaking of the life of a man who knows that the world is not given by his fathers, but borrowed from his children; who has undertaken to cherish it and do it no damage, not because he is duty-bound, but because he loves the world and loves his children… - Wendell Berry, 1971

Welcome to Microsoft Community.
To assist you better I would like to know, which Windows 10 build are you using?

At first, I suggest you to check for the Internet connection. Also, let’s try changing the settings and check what the status is.

1.Go to settings and click on Personalization.

2.Click on Lock screen on the left pane, change the background to preview and set it back to Windows spotlight again.

3. Changing random image function can be turned on or off.

There doesn't appear to be a "personalization" option under settings. There is an appearance option but it doesn't have a "Lock screen" option.

The personalization is in the upper right hand corner.

Are you referring to the three vertical dots? There is a settings option there. Don't see a personalization option after that. In the meantime a Google search brought up this suggestion: "Press Windows key + L to lock your PC. When you login, you will see a flat color background (it will be the same color as your accent color) instead of the flashy Windows screen."

It showed me one photo at a time to like or dislike. LOL. Selected the third one, Malibu Beach. Will find out the next time my computer is turned off and back on again if that's a satisfactory solution.

Sounds like you could (upon startup)
Hit F2.
Restore your defaults.
F9 enter
F10 enter.

And now you should be back to the beginning when everything will be as you remember it.
The random image was something that they added to Windows 10 and it has always had a glitch.

Gates has replaced the River Styx scene with a back and gray walkway with black and gray images of people walking up a huge slanted bridge of sorts. The image is about an 8 out of 10 for "How damned depressing is this screensaver?"

Somebody high up at MS has it out for humanity. MS rolls out and forces out its latest whatever and this is what we get?

Bill Gates actually owes us money for the space he rented from us for his employee parking.

Just right click on an image and assign it to your screen saver.

Thanks. I changed it once already and they came back with an in your face, intentionally depressinging photo that fills the screen. So this is bigger than about what is on my screen. Microsoft is intentionally trying to depress tens of millions of users.
