I do not get high, and I have a job. Next.

When I was in rehab for heroin addiction a few years back (clean now, 2 years+) a woman told me she would use her food stamp card to buy poppy seeds at the grocery store (organic section, red mill brand i think) and make poppy seed tea and drink it to keep from going through withdrawals.

Story has always stuck in my head..

All too easy to judge when one has not walked the mile in another's moccasins. And heroin addiction is a terrible thing. People like to give the old "just quit" reasoning. But physical withdrawal from heroin addiction can be fatal if not properly managed.

For that matter too though, I have even seen serious alcoholics drop dead from trying to quit cold-turkey.

If someone is such a hardcore drug user that they are indeed trading in their foodstamps for drugs, they don't have long to live anyway. The max benefit for a sinlge person for foodstamps is $200 a month. That is not enough to even give a person proper nutrition much less support a serious drug habit.

By the way, the government itself even admits that $200 is not enough, and call foodstamps a "supplement." Sadly, all too many people, including people I know, rely on it as their only source of food.

- bloated military contracts
- a patently unfair tax system that favors the 'super rich' so that their sources of income are taxed at a much lower rate than employment income, and they can hide a lot of things as well.
- the trillions in bailouts and the ensuing price inflation from the great financial crisis
- NEPOTISM. How many lazy-ass brats from the Government right down to some mom-and-pop restaurant got a job because of who they know, do sweet FA and everyone else has to either kiss their ass, or do all their work as well as one's own?

There are plenty of things that get my goat more than that. The only thing that annoys me is when 'trashy' people spawn a bunch of kids they don't raise properly.
Mandatory contraception with welfare might not be a bad idea, but drug testing is, as the OP pointed out, a colossal waste of money.

What pisses me off about people receiving a few hundred bucks a week (and food stamps and rent aide and free health care) is the fact that most of them are lying by claiming they cant work, cause they want and get a free f####n ride (cause no one likes to have to go to work) while i have to drive to somewhere i dont even want to go to everyday, meaning work and bust my a$$ while they're sitting on their lazy lying a$$es waiting for their next free check thats forcibly sucked outta my blood and sweat broken back pay check...

And so i say to those lazy, lying, buying dope with my f####n money welfare slugs..."Cant work huh? "Heres a f####n shovel! "Go dig a ditch! "Anyone can do that and thats real f####n work!...Then watch how scared they get at the thought of having to actually do real hard work and see how fast their suddenly able to go out and quickly find a nice little job somewhere...

Back in high school my friend and i actually tried baking the insides of banana peels (mellow yellow?) and then crumbled them up and rolled them up and tried smoking them to get high, which didnt work at all,so i guess thats just an urban legend or something? maybe we should have tried drying them out in the air and not in the oven? Slave labor is not the answer. Forcing someone into useless labor to make yourself feel better, it not the answer.

The answer is to create real jobs, with living wages.

You might be surprised by how many people would actually choose work that was worthwhile over being beggar.

Meanwhile, the reality is that work has been a requirement for welfare since 1996. The reason it is not being very well enforced, is because there simply are no jobs.

There are 3 applicants for every job available in America right now. And that is only counting the newly unemployed who are still active job seekers. Long term unemployed are not counted in those stats.

People are not on welfare by choice, or out of laziness, but rather hopelessness and despair.

The peanut skin thing works, but you need a ton of it, the high is weird, and the taste is god awful.

Slave labor is more or less being forced to work without pay and doing heavy manual labor on construction sites, like working mixing concrete and dragging around lumber and digging ditches isnt slave labor, but its really hard work that i did for years and thats what most welfare recipients are terrified of,real hard work...

So they milk the bleeding heart liberal system for all its f####n worth and lots of people have told me that they lied and lie through their fixed for free teeth,so they can get a free ride through life, meaning not having to drag themselves to somewhere they dont even really want to go to every f####n day, meaning work, like most of us are forced to do every damn morning day and night, rat raced till the bitter end...

Imagine living and not having to go to work, wow, wtf, would that be like heaven on earth,or what!?

But i do realize that its the politicians and law makers who are the ones to blame for creating a warped system that so many f####n llying leeches and lazy slugs take full advantage of and so its ultimately their fault, meaning the state and government,as f####n usual...

The state and government want an annihilated middle class and thats what the royal bloodline elite powers that be are designing and orchestrating and thats exactly what they're getting...

The state and government wants an elite ruling class who dominates and controls a lower class of dumbed down and drugged up sheeple walking around half asleep in a materialistic trance induced by government sponsored big pharma pushed psych dope and brain washed and mind warped by false flag fears sheeple easily manipulated and led far astray and thats what the royal bloodline elite powers that be are designing and orchestrating and thats exactly what they're getting...

Seriously, think about how warped and twisted this is,the top 500 richest americans hold more wealth than the bottom 150,000,000 and thats seriously f####d up and about as far away from a democracy as can be imagined...

Money is a pre-fabricated weapon of control and a pre-fabricated tool of domination that the native americans lived without for thousands of years and they also lived without bibles and jails, but then along came the hell bent greed driven europeans who eventually slaughtered around 95% of the natives once living all over the north and south american continents during the most prolonged and protracted and brutal genocide ever known...

Yes, but mainly because most of them took it as an open challenge to push their regular limits and try new things.

Pardon my french, but that is a steaming pile of bull#hit right there. First of all, slave labor has nothing to do with manual labor, and everything to do with being forced to work for the profit of another, against your will. Those crossing guards that I mentioned? THAT is slave labor, and all they have to do is stand in a crosswalk.

So you worked hard all your life? Good for you. But don't think you are special because you hauled lumber and dug ditches and weren't smart enough to get a degree. Not that there is anything wrong with a manual labor job of course, but don't sit there on a high horse and pretend you are the only person in the world who has put in a hard day's work. Personally, I would take my old tree service/removal job any day of the week over dealing with ass#ole customers at a gas station on a Friday night, or getting stabbed in the back with a kitchen knife by some crazed women in the middle of a domestic violence call.

And yes, I know people on welfare today who have come from all walks of life. Ex-cops, combat veterans, construction workers, even an engineer who not long ago was making a quarter-million dollars a year. You have NO right to sit there and judge "most welfare recipients" at all, any more than I would have the right to sit here and judge you if you fell on hard times. To judge you and say you should have gone to school rather than working some useless job that any "dirty Mexican" could do, or that high school kids should be doing.

As a matter of fact, no, people are not afraid of hard work. What they are afraid of, and more and more simply refuse to do, is hard work that doesn't pay enough to put food on the table and keep the lights turned on.

You should really learn to leave your ego at the door when considering sociological issues. It will help you see more clearly how we are ALL being screwed over. Poverty has NOTHING to do with laziness.

Especially when you consider the FACTS that more than half of people on welfare DO work, and that work has been a requirement for welfare since 1996. Moreover, lazy or not, it makes not one damn bit of difference when there are, quite simply, no jobs for the tens of millions of Americans who certainly do want to work. There is only 1 job in America for every 4 applicants. And that is only considering the short-term unemployed, not people on welfare, not people who have been out of work so long that they are no longer counted in unemployment figures.

Well if you really believe that life on welfare is "heaven" then you are profoundly stupid for working so hard when there was a free ride right there for the taking.
